i have 7' inch long crack on the inside of my windshield i just noticed today. Can you really repair that shit with resin or should I just replace the whole thing? |
Don't bother. After your antics today, I would anticipate more damage.

7 inch crack!? Better have it replaced.
|
7" inch long crack is too big for a resin repair. time to replace.
usually once it goes beyond 3/4" inch you've lost the windshield. this is why bullseye and stone chips must be repaired immediately, especially high dollar import cars. |
You probably have to replace it
|
how much is a new windshield?
|
about $200... had a branch fall thru the windsheild of my car, thats all it cost i think
had to get the whole thing replaced.. but the property who's tree it was on had to pay for it. still lost my job over it tho, lol |
check your insurance, here in Florida, Florida Statute 627.7288 states that the deductible shall not apply to windshield damages.
maybe the same for you |

if the damage is very small you can usually buy the kit and do it yourself---check auto parts places, or walmart---maybe the kit is 10-15 bucks.
every auto windshield place i know of does this repair for about 50 bucks. the problem is this---even a small rock chip will usually develop into an unrepairable crack due to windshield flexing unless you get the initial nick fixed promptly. moral of the story: don't drive the mercedes close behind the gravel truck :) |
