American version of "The Office" tonight
 

at 9:30 eastern... yikes that is in about 15 minutes.

It'll probably bomb. Can't be anywhere near as good as the original British version with Ricky Gervais...

I'm checking it out anyway.

l think every country has its own type of humour and that a different version of the office wouldnt work ..same goes for monty python etc ..just my 2 cents ..... :pimp

the original version of the office was one of the best sitcoms ever made...sadly, the American version did not live up to that standard:(

Yeah I just watched it.. maybe it will get better as it goes along, but I wasnt impressed. Oh well.

The original (British) version was very funny

I doubt you could copy it and be just as funny. It's like trying to copy Monty Python or something, it just wouldn't be the same.

I'd agree... and I was surprised how closely they followed the original script.

you guys mean the plots aren't original?? they just switched the actors??? that would be a major waste for the dude who's supposed to be playing gervais' role cause he's a fucking riot on the daily show with jon stewart.

The rest of the episodes are supposed to be completely original scripts.

I have never seen the Brit version of The Office. I just finished watching the first episode of the American version and found it funny in an off the wall way. They seem to have assembled a good group of actors.

I had to explain to my wife (native Japanese) the joke about the carpet matching the drapes. Seeing her reaction was even funnier than the show itself.
