In your opinion, what background color with what text color on it is the easiest on the eyes?

#FBFCEA - light yellow
#EAFCFA - light blue
#F4EAFC - light pink
#F1D4FB - light pink2
#A797FA - bluepurple
#5E0079 - dark purple
#89C1FF - powder blue
#930042 - maroon

the darker colors with white text. the lighter ones with black text.

YARGH! get colorschemer. It has some built in combo's, plus recommends best complimentary colors based on a color you select.

On a monitor or TV: light grey background and black text.

Some have their contrast set way too high or have sucky monitors.
A purely white background, or white text on a dark background, will strain the eyes in such cases.

My new best friend is ColorImpact 2. You can make custom templates to test the color scheme on.
