    In your opinion, what background color with what text color on it is the easiest on the eyes?

              YARGH! get colorschemer. It has some built in combo's, plus recommends best complimentary colors based on a color you select.

                  On a monitor or TV: light grey background and black text.

                  Some have their contrast set way too high or have sucky monitors.
                  A purely white background, or white text on a dark background, will strain the eyes in such cases.
