50 Cent and The Beatles In a League of Their Own?!?!
50 Cents "The Massacre" sold 1.1 million records in just 4 days! It's the 6th highest album sales EVER. "According to Geoff Mayfield, the director of Billboard charts, this feat had not been repeated since The Beatles in 1964." Looks like that FAKE Beef between him The Game paid off, just like I thought it would. ALL FUCKING PUBLICITY!
50 said in an interview with MTV that anything less than his previous mark of 11 million records sold for his "Get Rich Or Die Tryin" would be an utter failure. I guess its good that he has such high ambitions, but at the same time you cant help but think it has gotten to his head. Personally I doont think "The Massacre" is that great, and I believe it will lose steem, but who knows.......... |
they are all smart
|
i believe its going to lose steam too.
|
50 cents and the beatles in the same sentence...? the world is fucked
|
50 cent is a homosexual, the Beatles, as far as we know are straight.
Also the Beatles had talent, 50 cent - none Like comparing apples and razor blades |
only in america
2 years ago he was nothing, chilling on the corner smoking blunts |

You are sooo correct! He's a flash in the pan. If he is around musically 2 years from now I will be shocked.. if he lives that long. He's just some new guy standing in Dre's and Marshal's shadow. Next.... There will never be another Beatles, regardless of who sells more records. |

His beats are lame, his lyrics are tired and predictable ('my piggy bank'...a hetero would have titled the track 'my bank account') "Guns don't kill people......Rappers Do! callin tha police! Woo! Woo! Woo!" ~ Goldie looking chain |
Not to hard to hype something...
|
After this record sells 8 million, which it will, 50 Cent will have sold more records in his career than Dr Dre and Snoop Dog put together. Keep that in mind when you think about his short "flash in the pan" career.
I'm not a huge fan of his but he is making more money than 99% of all artists in the world. If he can do that in just a few years then more power to him. |

50 cent is not by definition an artist. He is a marketing tool promoting violence, murder, theft, demeaning women and crime to children aged 7 to 30. :thumbsup :winkwink: Because he can make money, it doesn't mean he is smart. :2 cents: |

cheers ~r. |
you cant compare music sales from back then with sales from today

As for him being an artist ..maybe not but if you know where these guys are coming from and understand what there singing about ..they do come up with some very creative ways of saying things ... it is entertainment ..and is worth listening to. the problem is if you don't listen to it enough to know what the hell there talking about it makes no sense .. |
Yes they are both in leagues of their own.
One of them being the talent league. The other being ghetto trash who got lucky he has talented people producing his beats. |

The numbers don't lie.
Thas a rich mother fucker. I like what he got to say though. His stuff is pretty good and and anything is better than The Beatles... |

Blah. Vanilla Ice sold something like 17 million records. Last time I seen him he was on a reality show with Ponch from CHIPS.

its all about creating a buzz these days

would you rather sell over a million records in 4 days or be on the Billboard top 100 albums for 14 years (dark side of the moon).
Its ashame that the music industy markets this entertainment to children.... maybe his name is 50 cent because thats how much he will be left with in 10 years while his lawyers and "babys mammas" are driving hummers. |
wow, that's 1.1 million disappointed listeners!
|
I've liked 50 cent, since 99', when 'how to rob' dropped. From then on, songs like Ghetto Q'ran and albums like Power of the dollar - kept me as a huge fan, even to this day. Now, withstanding this fact, and vouching I'm not some old bias baby boomer reflecting back- 50 cent is honestly, about 1/100th of the talent of John Lennon, let alone the beatles as a collective unit.
I love hip-hop, but fuck, what a sad day - when sales do not dictate the magnitude of your talent, or your broad span/appeal across multiple genres. But rather based on how great you're marketed. Now, I understand The Beatles Brian Epstein was no slouch, and the beatles did start with a gimmick/great marketing scheme - But, these men changed the face of the world, and the face of music. The best. Thus can get away with their initial start. 50? can't. These comparisons do no justice. BTW - Massacre is pretty good. About 7-8 classic 50 songs. The rest? Need some time to get adjusted/acquainted with the production. |
see sig :upsidedow

Putting 50 cent & The Beatles in the same sentence...50 cent doesn't got nothing on Beatles...
Lets get real shall we...gezzzzzzzzzzz |

Wow, your standard of classic songs are pretty low. I found about 3 good songs on that cd and the rest is average to trash. nuthing but a g thang = classic ny state of mind = classic juicy = classic straight outta compton = classic 50 Cent = no classic |

Some D$ insight, incase you care to read.
50 Cent is one of the better rappers in the game with his unique sound and flow, others are trying to copy it, so it's his own thing, more power to him. I'm a 50 supporter for sure. Should he be in the same league with the Beatles and others before him? I'd love to see him break all kinds of records, but here's what's going on. Credit the marketing mind of 50 Cent and the luck of being with Eminem and Dre. From a marketing perspective, everyone wants to see another 2Pac or Biggie. Since both died, people are starving for another thugged out rapper with a fuck everybody attitude. So here's 50 Cent, he's got muscles, been shot 9 times and lived, DRE produces beats with the best beat people in the world on his team, that right there is a good formula. Now add Eminem to it. Eminem truly crossed over the Dre type of sound to the world market, so Eminem laid out a customer base, but Eminem doesn't have that 2Pac or Biggie edge. Street sells. He also raps about Death, comparison to Pac and Biggie. So it's all a part of the formula. Another good reason is timing. Look at any professional sports person. They get paid way more then those before them because of the market place. The distribution angles for selling music is way more vast then ever before. Props to 50 Cent for having the right formula put together at the right time. Would he have the same sales without Eminem and Dre? Would he have sold this many albums if it came out 4 years ago? I believe not. Timing, good team, good formula (being that gangsta like Pac and Biggie, but more gangsta even). |

although I like you insight, insight is nothing without knowledge http://www.google.be/search?hl=nl&q=...e+dollar&meta= power of the dollar , 50 cents first cd Original Release Date: September 12, 2000 no backing of dr dre or anyone else video was made, single recorded , played on mtv , was a lil hit nothing big , then went back in to obscurity |

Massacre is no illmatic. It's no liquid swords. But, in the current state of hiphop? eh, it's feasible for the time being. |
yeah yeah.. blah blah..
There are a lot more buyers too in comparison. Let's see some ratio's instead. It's just like people saying Bush had more votes than any other president in history, well DUH! So did Kerry, and he LOST! |
Quote:
its not worth listening too. at all. And I _LIKE_ rap. |
that why he fought with the game.

Beatles will be classic forever how long will 50 be remembered that's the true test
|
<sarcasm>
Are you guys kidding? 50 cent is probably one of the greatest artists of all time. I mean, lets look at the facts here, 1.1 million records sold in 4 days, that is bigger than any shitty rock band I can think of in the last 30 years. Whether you guys like it or not, 50 cent is one of the greatest musicians of all time. He is up there with Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. </sarcasm> Not really though, he is just a marketing tool with no talent that sings to beats that a beat generator made up. Any retard can do it, and people that buy his records are retarded too for supporting this trash. Btw: He will probably be broke like Ice is, because he is a stupid rapper with too much money. Anyway, no one can take the side of rap as real music, because we can all agree that it is total garbage that takes 0 talent and 0 skill. :2 cents: |
Please, don't compare the Beatles to today's latest "music celebrity". I don't care if P Diddy outsells Jimi Hendrix 10 to 1, it doesn't put him in the same league. 50 cent has no talent, he made the sales because a great majority of consumers today are complete fucking idiots and his company did a good job selling it. Period.
|
In 30 years from now, will radio stations be playing 50 cent songs like they still play the Beatles today?
Somehow I doubt it. |
Kids these days, flock to anything. He maybe hot right now, but god knows in the future.

50's a nasty business man LOL
bringing the street knowledge to the table |
some of you guys crack me up... 50 has no talent, 50 is this, 50 is that....
FACTS: he sold 11 MILLION Albums in 1 year. He just sold 1.1 Million in 4 days. He is fucking rich, beyond anything any of you will dream of. your sitting behind your computer talking shit. He's making millions, running the rap game right now. I think I'll side with the no talent side instead of the internet shit talkers.... |
