does linking to google do anything worthwhile?
 

I've seen people linking to google from their sites and I've seen it mentioned somewhere in an article about linking back to google. Does that shit actually mean anything?

I would like to know this too, but my own thinking is that it doesnt matter.....

I had a site with only outbound links and no inbound links and it went from PR0-PR5 in one update.

Outbound: I link to them
Inbound: They link to me

I linked to a bunch of other sites one of my domains, i didnt ask or got a link back and i know have a PR5

Google ranks you based on both who links to you and who you link to ... as long as the incoming and outgoing links are relevant to your site. So, for most of us here it shouldn't help, but you never know - Google may just give a little boost to those that link back to them but I'd don't think anyone's proved it yet.

i never knew that, some shit i read said only sites linking to you matter for PR's... guess im gonna do some linking on one of my domains and see how it turns out :upsidedow

I can guarantee you have inbound links, or Google has your website "confused" with another link.

Outbound links does not provide you with PR in anyway whatsoever... otherwise every joe schmoe would be linking to sites like msn, news stations, and other high PR sites. You only get PR (page rank) from incoming links to your site. Page rank is based on sites voting for you. If anything you're sending PR to those links.

Giving PR to outbound links would be beneficial to surfers since webmasters would be linking to quality content.

So setup a non-adult domain and make it your exit link. Build a bunch of free sites (on as many different domains as possible) linking to it and give the PR "vote" to your own non-adult site. Doh!
