Whay is it so hard to make money nowadays ?
Gee, I got to bust my ass all day long to make some decent money. The industry is changing somehow....its not stable anymore like it used to be....i dont even know what the hell is going on. I dont think the rules here work anymore.

To many freakin' webmasters means too much content. If there were 500, we'd be sorted. Shame there's so many thousands of us.
Cheaper internet access, more foreign traffic... it's almost free to get online now. Weekends are the worst. It'd be great if all sponsors closed their webmaster signup pages... hehehe, no newbie webmasters! [This message has been edited by ldinternet (edited 12-02-2001).] |
About 5 times a month I get e-mails from
customers asking me to "un-cancel" their membership. Thats really disturbing. These surfers are so used to getting fucked they cancel first and look at the site later. The "pay per signup" system is to blame for some problems. Resellers will tell surfers anything to get signups. I know, I know.. we all try to curb that crap but it still happens. The other thing I see is these cable users running their own ftp's. It doesnt help things cause they steal your content and give it away for free on their high speed lines. They are hard to catch. They pay nothing for the bandwidth so they just keep doing it. As much as @home being shut down hurts us, I will bet 500,000 warez pic and video sites were just purged from the net. I guess what Im trying to say is that content thieves and underhanded business practices are hurting us all. If you run an honest business you'll still be running it when the crooks are killed off by the credit card companies ( I hope ). Anyone have an reliable info on the new CC Company laws coming down ? |
Because I have always said that CJ sites don't work in the long run....

You've definately got the "stability" part right. But you can CREATE stability, it just takes time and a steady, REALIABLE traffic flow.

That's my 2 pennies anyway...been in this industry for 6+ years and plan to be here a lot longer than that. This has worked well for me so far. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif ------------------ Amber Fisher :) www.flyntdigital.com |
Ha, nice of Flyntdigital to plug Jettis, aren't you guys all Webquest anyway?
Sorry, I've got friends working in Westlake http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/wink.gif N |
LOL Nedder, FlyntDigital doesn't run Jettis...although, we at FD process with them, which is why I know they are the best processors out there.

My understanding is Jettis is owned by MaxCash. Now the funny thing
is that MaxCash was supposedly going to move all their processing to Ibill. That really makes you wonder since they have their own processor. After being told that info I was later told that customers signing up through Jettis were being spammed with MaxCash adverts. Hey, I dont know any of this for sure. It could all be bullshit but the people who told me this are large in the industry. The bottom line is that I was considering using Jettis at one time but that kinda scared me away from them. Just to be 100% clear, I dont know any of the above to be fact. If someone from MaxCash says it's bullshit.. well, they would know better than I. It might be a good thing if someone from Jettis or MaxCash cleared this up. I have heard those three rumors enough times ( and other webmasters ) that it may be adversely affecting their business. |

You would think Yahoo and the ISPs would put limits on these things since the bandwidth costs must be huge ... and some do ... but the pirates just keep setting up new accounts over and over ... [This message has been edited by erotictrance (edited 12-03-2001).] |
