Who do you respect more? A gallery submitter or a mailer?

So what do you respect more?

a gallery submitter or a mailer?
a freesite maker or a black hat seo?
a tgp/mgp owner or a cj/cj2 site owner?
a honest sponsor or a "shady in your favor" sponsor?

SykkBoy 02-14-2005 01:54 PM

ok, so you would install trojans/spyware/dialers, hijack signups and spam their mailbox if it was easy to do?

cheapbulletproof 02-14-2005 02:00 PM

a mailers

polish_aristocrat 02-14-2005 02:02 PM

if someone makes $15k by submitting and the other makes also $15k by mailing, I respect the submitter more

but more than the submitter, I would respect the tgp owner

and more than the TGP owner, I would respect a guy who makes that amount of money with SEO

rollinOn20s 02-14-2005 02:04 PM

Wow, i generally thought people were judged on the personality and character, rather than, their job title. Attitude like this man, YOU are going nowhere fast.

This is a business. You are judge by the skills you bring to the table. If you deal with people based on personality and character only, then good luck on your ventures.

making a gallery ( or buying templates if you dont have the designer skills ) is easy and cheap, geting content is easy, submitting is easy etc, if your gallery is good, buying spots is easy

but with SEO, well, most people dont have any clue where to start and they dont get any SE traffic on their own

You took this comment the wrong way. You made it sound like you dont care about trust or honesty, only a 'title' of someone. Thats all dude! :2 cents:

well i say its easy because u can always re-engineer top listings.
besides the established sites with good backlinks, its not hard getting listed on a term that is realistic. And seo isnt just free listings, its paid as well. Good seo's will do both in parrallel to adjust short and long term positioning.

weird theory...doesn't apply to all jobs.

a gallery submitter or a mailer? gallery submitter
a freesite maker or a black hat seo? toss-up
a tgp/mgp owner or a cj/cj2 site owner? tgp/mgp
a honest sponsor or a "shady in your favor" sponsor? honest sponsor... what shady sponsor is going to be in your favor??? They'd just do the shadyness to benefit themselves. Cut the middle man out.

Theo 02-14-2005 11:44 PM

shady blackhat mailer of course

it's all about risk vs. reward
I don't see installing trojans as worth the reward...

let's put it this way

would you rather have a mailer sending you 100 sales per day with only a handful of complaints or a gallery submitter who sends you 10 (if that) per day and always needs free content, bandwidth, hosting, resources, etc.?

let's say it's even, let's say you have a poor mailer who only gets you 10 sales per day and 3-4 complaints (believe me, I run true double opt-in mailers and I still get my share of odd complaints) or the gallery guy who sends you 10 salews per day and you now have to provide them more content, hosting and generally more handholding? The mailer, you give them the codes and creatives an they are off and running...the submitter needs all of these extra resources (and contributes to even more free porn on the Internet)?

now, let's say you are a business owner and the submitter(s) need more assistance and you now have to hire another program rep (or 2 or 3) and that costs you more money vs. a part-time rep who has to deal with the mailers (make sure they are running clean and within your TOS)...which path do you take?

remember, not all mailers are blanket spammers...

I think everyone should have their own email collectors on everything they build and start legally mailing their own lists...over time they'll see more money (if they do it right) than just submitting and praying they get accepted.

clickclickclick 02-15-2005 12:08 AM

I agree that in the end, signups count and im certain that many mailers can do circles around gallery submitters. (excluding paid spots)

I would think instinctively that since mailers/blackhat seo's make more signups, that they are more respected then gallery submitters.

But that being said, a spyware program with the capabilities to go virial can do circles around mailers....

I know enough about what goes on to understand who does what and sometimes what methodologies they use to get their results. im just not sure that they can be respected.

i think he's talking about the cookie cutter sites, gallery thieves, and people who take content then go resell it.

Ok I have had enough coffee for this one ...

Once I'm done I will be flamed to death but here goes:

Fuck the freeloaders.

As stated this is business.

In all other businesses there is no hand holding, No freebies unless you produce a certain amount of sales.

Fuck the free hosting.
Charge the affiliates for a media package that includes the content. In fact do what every other affiliate program does ... charge the affiliate to become an affiliate.

This bullshit of handing everything out because it may produce a sale is just that bullshit.

I have never asked a sponsor to pay for my domains or my hosting.
Some of my sponsors offer it and I refuse.

Content yes I have asked for that. But know what I'm willing to eat my own words. I'd be willing to pay for a media kit just like I would be expected to in any other sales affiliate position.

Ask the Avon lady where she gets her sales kit from and how much it costs. Just like amway, fuller brush, etc etc etc

The sponsors have gotten to soft trying to allow these balloonheads to stay in business and it's filling up the net with so much bullshit it's crazy.

We have fucked ourselves as an industry trying to give affiliates what they want. Visa has us cut back to 1%. How much more can we endure?

I know the porn industry will always be here and I want to be a part of it but lets start running it like a business not like a fraking freak show.

Business = Ethics Most of the clowns here couldn't grasp the idea of real ethics.

Honesty is the best policy.
I respect those who run an honest business and do not put all of us at risk each day by doing shady shit. I don't want to move out of the US just so I can stay in adult. Its the shady fuckers that are making it hard for honest guys to make a living.

My 2 cents.
