say you take a 20 year old...

and he tell you how much he has saved up in his bank account

how much $ (for a 20 year old) in his bank account impress you? say that this 20 year old has been successful?

plz answer as honestly as possible, thanx!

Dalai lama 02-05-2005 05:07 PM

why would you tell how much you saved in your bank account? That's plain stupid.

Keep those things for yourself, why impress the chick she will hunt your money only.

fünkmaster 02-05-2005 05:07 PM

... I'd hit it !!!

freeadultcontent 02-05-2005 05:09 PM

Average 20 year old, a large negative balance on credit cards with maybe under 200.00 in his checking/savings.
Typical self employed 20 year old, some money owed in credit but maybe 5-10k checking/savings.
Successfull 20 year old, no credit balances past 28 days, and next to nothing in a savings account and 10k in checking. Rest put elsewhere to earn real returns.

P.S. none would really impress me, as how much someone else has really means jack shit to me.

whoa, dude you are totally not understanding the purposs of my question...

nobody is flashing money to nobody here...

it's a simple hypothetical question

and I am not even talking about myself, I am talking about the population of 20 year olds...

Young 02-05-2005 05:09 PM

i don't trust no banks nor coppars.

Sly 02-05-2005 05:10 PM

I agree, don't share your worth. Only gets you in trouble.

The only thing that matters is whether or not you think you're successful.

Manowar 02-05-2005 05:10 PM

at 20 i had no debts and around 20k in savings. I knew quite a few people who had more

Sly 02-05-2005 05:10 PM

If a typical 20 year old has $5k I would be surprised.

Most kids in my college don't have $5 from my conversations with them. So far I am the only one that has really anything- but I consider myself not part of the average group.

ytcracker 02-05-2005 05:18 PM

avg 20 yr old to be impressed = 10k in liquid assets

alexg 02-05-2005 05:22 PM

In Israel the average 20 year old would probably have around $1k or so...maybe less... depends on what he has been able to earn during high school or whatever he's got as a gift from parents or whoever...
basically most people go to the army right after high school and aren't making any money during this period...

In Poland even less

Sears Salesman 02-05-2005 05:33 PM

2 types of "average 20 year olds"

-in school and funded by mommy and daddy
=average savings maybe $500-1000 or whatever their monthly allowance is

-in school with student loans and/or part time job
=average savings maybe $1000-2000, more in the summer when they work and save up for the coming school year

Yep. Your average 20yo has nothing, and doesn't have credit cards either. Some may be working their way through college so they only have enough to pay for the next semester so that will be gone soon enough. A fairly successful 20yo, such as the ones in this biz, could have a shitload.

said the guy who makes $7K/mo recurring

Steen2 02-05-2005 05:41 PM

In that age, I know many who managed to rack up credit card debts into the thousands. also know many who make more than their parents.

sickkittens 02-05-2005 05:43 PM

$15k probably. It just means he actually worked and didn't waste his money in the past few years.

sickkittens 02-05-2005 05:43 PM

assuming he/she still lives with his/her parents.

supermann 02-05-2005 05:44 PM

I am that age and have around 2k credit card debts. Anyone with 10 or 20k in the bank would impress me.

bigdog 02-05-2005 05:45 PM

20- $10
25 -$15
30- $40
40- $5 mid life crisis

Are you talking about millions?

beemk 02-05-2005 05:57 PM

a 20 year old with any $ saved up is a diamond in the rough.

Fake Nick 02-05-2005 06:04 PM

money saved up is nothing ,how much are you making a month ? you should be making at least $2500 / month at 20 if you hope one day to be very succesfull

anything above $7500 should be considered succesfull :)

MandyBlake 02-05-2005 06:05 PM

i'd say an average (not self employed) 20 year old having $750 in a savings account would impress me.

Huggles 02-05-2005 06:09 PM

At 20 I was broke as fuck

You obviously have never been 20.

<------@ 20 - student loans

Head 02-05-2005 06:24 PM

If a 20 yr old has 5k in the bank i'd be impress! I sure as shit didn't 5k when i was that age!!

latinasojourn 02-05-2005 07:04 PM

an impressive 20 yr old would be about a junior in an accredited university working towards an engineering degree, and be strapped with student loans.

he/she would have little or no spendable cash.

You need to clarify successful a bit more, 20yo in school will have no cash, those that arent in school and working might have 5-10K saved up, and finding one thats in school and working, and not simply working to pay for school, is the rarest find.

Again, you need to clarify successful, I mean a kid earning good grades and setting himself up for a career would be successful, but would have no cash, likewise a kid with 5-10K in the bank, but no real career prospects or room for advancement making $3-5K/mo now isnt successful, because charting out the next 5-10 years of their life its obvious who would end up on top. (All things being equal of course).

It's completely relative. :thumbsup

tungsten 02-05-2005 07:19 PM

10k would impress me..

but this depends.. does this 20yo go to college or no?

Mailer 02-05-2005 07:21 PM

Average is probably 500 bucks ...

The Heron 02-05-2005 08:23 PM

20 years olds are poor and generally useless. Luckily I am 21 and was never even close to broke, gotta love porn peddling.

not smart to tell people how much money you have. let people think what they want.

:thumbsup

Money is relative

The Sultan Of Smut 02-05-2005 10:13 PM

I can tell you how much I had when I was 20 but it won't impress you.

a 20 year old with 100g's is impresive to me...
