Different kids are in entirely different situations. Some have more money at 17 than 45 year olds.

I had about $50,000+ in my bank account at that time.

I guess I was not the average joe.

bdjuf, a lot of turds here like to toot their own horn (and you know this), and a lot of old farts are successful now and make it seem like it was easy then too (like an old football player commentating on TV like all the shit is easier now instead of thinking of when he was playing). If you own a car and you arent in debt you offically have more of your own money than 90% of 20 year olds in the USA.

How much is impressive? I dunno, I don't care about anyone's money but my own.

i prefer to just save some money then travel...i'll start saving once i have seen the majority of the world :) telling someone all the places in the world you have been can be somewhat more impressive than how much you got in your bank :)

when i was 20 i had about 20k, i was working fulltime in summer and part time during winter while attending school. i am very good with saving cash and not spending it.

I know many people from 20, since it's my range of age. People who still go to school doesn't have much money, mostly NOTHING. But some friends stopped school to work and have alot of money in their pocket, but no future!

I don't think there is an "average" ..

A very successful 20 yr old should have $100,000+ USD saved or at least $500,000+ worth of real estate.
