Same thought here. I don't think it is legit.

260 Km/h = 160 mph ...in 5.5 seconds that's totally obtainable, athough quick as can be. The latest issue of Motor Trend says the top fuel drag racing cars can reach 100 mph in 0.84 seconds. Tony Schemacher covered a quarter mile in 4.441 seconds starting at 0. My calculations say he reached 202.66 mph assuming constant acceleration. Top speed is 333.08 for the 2004 NHRA Top Fuel Championship-winning U.S. Army dragster. Cool.

If a limited production road car with just 730 bhp can go 0-60 in 2.6 seconds (http://www.supercars.net/index-sixty.html), how much of a stretch is it for a lighter car with pure traction and ten times the horsepower to go 0-60 in 0.84 seconds? My dad used to drag race, and while back then he was only in 2000-2500 hp cars, it certainly opens my eyes to the feasibility of Motor Trend's statement.

Basic_man 01-17-2005 09:33 AM

Man... link is 404 !! :(

Some people should speed more time at the drag strip instead of pretending how fast they think they can go, maybe even try a little nascar. Real speed real horsepower, not just someone's lip flapping

IceMaster 01-17-2005 10:05 AM

Damn , i couldnt download the video.

M650i 01-17-2005 10:06 AM

I was there for that. Starting Line... Got some real dope shots of the fuel rails. The army car ran into some problems though in earlier runs.

NinjaSteve 01-17-2005 10:31 AM

DAMN IT! I wanted to see the vid but it's gone!
