Are there programs to make windows folders hidden?
 

I dont really feel comfortable knowing the US customs might check my laptop's contents. I bet they wont enjoy ******* and goatse.

Anything you can hide, they can unhide. If its on the HD it can be recovered.

I doubt they will do that.

you can try it with putting a linux partition on it or something like that. but a clean laptop should be better. ask Chris from ATKCash if you want to hear a really funny story about that.

What happened?

his notebook was full of porn pics and canadian customs forced him to boot and started examining it. they directly searched for files with attachments like .jpg or .mpg
fortunately he had several partitions with windows and linux and managed to boot into a linux partition that never really worked - so they found nothing (and because they didn't understand Linux). he got away without anything happening and was really relieved.

so if you don't have to take them with you - better leave them at home, i think.

If you run WinXP you can code every folder.

The quick and dirty way would be to go to folder options and choose "do not show hidden files and folders". Then, right click on whatever folder you want to hide and choose "hidden" under the attributes. Of course they're still there, but they won't see them at a glance. Then turn "show hidden files/folders" back on when you get to Vegas and you'll be able to see them.

Seriously Battuss - they will find "something" if they want. Also, it's not the actual customs folks that are the problem - they are just doing what they do. zip your shit, rename the extention to a dat, move it into c:\backup

if they ask what it is tell them you have another computer at home that backs up to the laptop. If they ask you to open the file, the program that opens it is on your home computer.
