I found out that Party Poker takes snapshots of your desktop looking for a cheating program.


can any companies here do this too?

Yes, and this is 100% confirmed. Party Poker has deleted at least 50 accounts for using a cheating program and the proof that they caught them was showing i snap shot of their desk top with the cheating program running.

It's not technically cheating.
They have programs out there that let you know what would be the best thing for you to do at any certein point in the game.
Like "Don't bet too high" or "Fold".
There may be other programs out there that do it auto or something but other than that, I really don't think there is any way to cheat their system.

It's like playing poker and having a buddy of yours lean over your shoulder and let you know what's up.

the program can connect yopu to another player at that table and you both can see each others cards. so you don't have to commuicate at all and play fast and get undetected everytime.

I played 5+ hours with the help of Texas Calculate 'Em. Then 5+ hours without. I did better without it.

I just crank up my subliminal recording for winning at poker.

this is true Fletch. but after you and your rommie wins a couple of tourneys together or win from the same money tables day after day, they will catch it and then you would be fucked too.

dont get me wrong, i like to play some cards with friends or have beers with the friends and family and play. or even go to casinos, but not one for online gambling.

It's not really cheating like you would commonly think of it, it is what is referred to in the biz as collusion. The basic concept is two or more players sit at a table together and control the action to maximize their profits.

All of the online poker sites have some type of anti-collusion software/monitoring systems. They pick up on all types of things including patterns of people playing together, betting patterns, etc.

Protects honest players like us from the scum bags of the world.

There is a way to "mask" your desktop so PartyPoker cannot see it.

I won't tell you how, but any idiot should know.

Another trick for PartyPoker players... http://www.pokertracker.com/ is a great tool that can be used to list losing players.

You stand a better chance tracking those players and playing them, obviously.

Another hint is to look at the pre-flop percentage rates.

There are many "helper" programs out there that can tell you pot odds implied odds etc etc.
Some can tell you your hand rank and win % with any given hand when you imput how many players are at the table...what cards are showing.
It could be considered cheating I guess...but I always felt they are more of a "helper" for people who can't do these things in their head.
You sure can't pull out your laptop at a casino and use them though!

Party Poker doesnt care about programs like Holdem Assistant or whatever....its like those little cards you can buy and take to the blackjack table ;)

I am technically clueless but it seems that screen scraping and taking a snapshot of your desktop are two different things.

Plus, I will accept the screen scraping if its the only way to make sure collusion software isnt being used by other players.
