I'm getting pissed with Firefox...

It's crashing all the time now!!!

It crashes mostly when I have multiple tabs opened and I click a link that will open in a new window.

Do you guys know what I should do to prevent this from happening in the future?

Mefo 12-07-2004 07:47 AM

never had that happen before, no idea how to fix it though. maybe your puter is running to slow to make it all work

Fukeneh 12-07-2004 07:47 AM

my first guess would be to reinstall and possibly try a reboot.

my laptop was recently haveing a similar issue with IE. when it had been running for a while and id open a new window it would lack to a stop and blue screen, its fixed now though.

I had the same issue with Opera, switched to FF and all good, I know how fuckin frustrating it is though

loverboy 12-07-2004 11:55 AM

have you tried reinstalling your copy?

ElvisManson 12-07-2004 11:59 AM

how many extentions are you running?

I dumped a few of them and that same problem went away.

KRL 12-07-2004 12:13 PM

Firefox is the most stable browser yet for me.

Did you upgrade over a prior install?

TheFrog 12-07-2004 12:15 PM

try a clean reinstall

I have no idea... How can I check??

Sly 12-07-2004 12:25 PM

I haven't updated since the latest upgrade, my copy is working just fine. Once every couple weeks it locks on a site or two but nothing major at all. It seems to lock whenever I go to GG&J though.

I came across the problem once I upgraded to 1.0 (no extensions).

I eliminated the problem once I reverted to .8 on one machine, and .9 on the other.

I had issues with the middle-mouse button (open-tab function) - click on a link and CRASH, but it is the best browsers out there, IMO.

Tools > Extensions

unless you have installed them you won't have any.

xclusive 12-07-2004 12:35 PM

Never had a problem with firefox yet...

Rebecca Love 12-07-2004 12:54 PM

I just had Opera start crashing on me. Gets so annoying. I tried fresh install, overwriting, everything and it still crashes. I am on a new Dell BTW.....

i <3 firefox

X37375787 12-09-2004 09:55 AM

the 1.0 version introduced some fatal errors to my system. I often start Ffox and it just shows me the window, but none of the buttons work.

so I dumped it, and installed Mozilla 1.7.3

qw12er 12-09-2004 10:08 AM

try maxthon it's the best browser around.

korzon 12-09-2004 10:10 AM

i cant help you with that

but that must suck

Wolfy 12-09-2004 10:42 AM

no problems here either, must be your system running low on ram?

Validus 12-09-2004 10:50 AM

I am not sure why people are using FireFox. Internet Explorer works great, never had problems with it, loads fast and does everything I want it to.

Vitasoy 12-09-2004 11:10 AM

Have not experienced any problems with firefox.

firefox is a little slower than ie but it has some pretty useful extensions. i use both and can switch between the 2 on the fly so its all good
