If your partner became disabled or disfigured

Would you stay with them?

Say your partner in marriage became several burned and skin all melted so they don't look like they do now, or if they became quadrepligic (sp?), club footed, or lost a limb.

Would the marriage end sooner or later as a result?

Spunky 11-21-2004 10:32 PM

I would like to think if that happened to me ...yes...but in reality would you want them to ?

Magg 11-21-2004 10:33 PM

probably yes, :(

xclusive 11-21-2004 10:34 PM

Yes my wife does anything I need so I wouldn't abandon her...

Veterans Day 11-21-2004 10:39 PM

I have to say I would be there for her. Thats such a shitty thought though, but I would hang tough.:(

Spunky 11-21-2004 10:40 PM

If they lost a limb..that's not a problem..but to be burned beyond regognition,I have a hard time with that..I mean sex would become an issue and you would eventually stray :2 cents:

I have been with my wife for almost 12 years. We are about to have our first child. I don't care what happened, I would not leave her side.

WebTitan 11-21-2004 10:44 PM

I would be by her side until the end.

Tam 11-21-2004 10:48 PM

Nope, I'd never leave him over anything like that. It would be hard watching him struggle, but I'd stand right there with him and go thru it with him. I've been with him for 21 years and we've had some pretty rough times, so I don't see leaving him for any reason.

Besides, I am about fucked myself, my heart is not right and my back is about totally fucked, and he has been right there for me, making sure I take care of myself and all that. :thumbsup

Paraskass 11-21-2004 10:50 PM

I would be there for her.

Would I want her to stay with me?
Probably not. I would most likely be so depressed I would drive her away.

:(

I have to.

detoxed 11-21-2004 11:03 PM

To marry someone I'd be willing to die for them... so as long as they were hot when we got married, anything that happens after that wouldnt bother me.

Wiggles 11-21-2004 11:04 PM

yeah i'd definately stay, i'd want them to do the same, only fair, and if you truly love them, why not?

Drake 11-22-2004 12:08 AM

That's nice to know. I guess it's a whole other ball game if it becomes a reality. I only posted this after hearing, anecodally mind you, that women tend to say with men in this situation, but that men are more likely to leave when the woman experiences something tragic like this.

Well men cant get much uglier... Woman are a thing of beauty.

WickedVenus 11-22-2004 12:15 AM

I would totaly stay with my spouse! I love him. Love sees no errors!

Furious_Female 11-22-2004 12:29 AM

I'd never leave someone or feel differently about someone because of what they do or do not look like. If you only love someone for what they look like, you shouldn't be in a relationship to begin with. There's nothing more beautiful to me than a person's mind.

lol I don't have a boyfriend... but I really am one of the few people on Earth who don't care about what people look like. Besides, nerds and geeks are uber sexxy, didn't ya know? :winkwink:

smeagal 11-22-2004 07:23 AM

if u are happy with the person and in love none of that should matter

Libertine 11-22-2004 07:36 AM

Happened to my mother... in a car accident, her partner suffered severe brain damage, and because of that he's now mentally very heavily handicapped (e.g. he's hardly able to leave the house alone, needs constant care and is unable to take care of himself, etc.). She's still with him.

Seeing their situation, though, I don't know if I could do it. Perhaps if I really, really loved the girl.

kowntafit 11-22-2004 07:44 AM

I have heard people ask this before and I like not to think about it.

foxylady 11-22-2004 07:47 AM

nope, you vow each other thru sickness and health till death do us part :1orglaugh

Jer 11-22-2004 07:51 AM

What a sad thing to think about, but of course I'd stay with my wife.
