On San Andreas? Should I go around trying to recruit new people already wearing green and have them just stand around, or do I only need to recruit them if I want to go into another territory and try to start a gang war?

You only need to recruit them if you want them to go do something with you. Frankly, though, they are pretty worthless. I just buy body armor and a shitload of bullets and handle the gang wars by myself.

Parachuting? Awesome. I am not that far yet, I only just got a girlfriend in the game, I've been mostly playing the mini games. According to the stats I am only 15% done.
