New Nikon D70 with SB800 Speedlight
Well, here's some shots with my new camera and sweetass speedlight. :) I thought you might like a few peeks!
http://www.ellinude.com/photos/First...Shoot-S-07.jpg http://www.ellinude.com/photos/First...Shoot-S-43.jpg I'm still reading through the 160 page manual for the D70, so any tips or tricks are welcome, if anyone else has a similar camera! Enjoy! |
Nice speed light :thumbsup

Elli, you rock :thumbsup Have fun with your new hardware. Feel free to post pics as you practice and learn how to use the equipment :Graucho :Graucho
Appreciate any tid-bits you learn along the way. Maybe you could talk some of the GFY content gurus into some private lessons. |

damn, they're kinda washed out for such a flash :/
you should try fliddling w/ the ETTL on that, and make sure its metering off your fleshtones Most top end speedlites (550ex, 580ex on the canon range) have a diffuser, and can tilt up to make catchlights, and get rid of the evil flash shadows |
For us amateurs.
She was in a room it appeared. Bounce the light off the ceiling (assume it is white). That solves a lot of issues. |
I have the same camera and flash.
You shuld try to put the flash in a different derection + if its doesnt work on outo, try teh A model and chuse the f. The result will be much beter. take a look onpic i did. less shodows. http://img27.hahahahahahaha/img27/3775/DSC_0236.jpg |

I so totally want one of those cameras!!!!
Great pics by the way :thumbsup |
Wow, thanks for the tips everybody!! I am still experimenting with everything, so I'll keep you updated on how my quest goes :)
PS: Yes, I was in a room with a beige/taupe wall behind me. I had a 500w blue light aimed from the side, to cut the dark across the mid-high area (which is why the light fell off at my knees so drastically). The flash was bouncing off the ceiling, but I backed up against the wall so far that it didn't get to light up the space behind me at all. And yes, I was using the little plastic diffuser that came with the speedlight, but it wasn't one of those velcro mini softboxes. Still need to get one of those. |
Off topic - But congrats on your review in AVNonline.

Try to get the extension cable for the flash... then you'll be able to move the flash away from the camera.
|
I use a wireless transmitter and receiver...........and it works great, or you can try moving the flash further away using a strobal frame (sp).
