Joe Citizen 10-30-2004 12:33 AM

great book... one of my favourites.

But don't watch the movie after you read the book.

The movie sucks.

the movie is great, I'm sure the book is even better.

BlueQuartz 10-30-2004 01:54 AM

a fantastic book - one of my favs - you will enjoy it :Graucho

CamChicks 10-30-2004 02:44 AM

ditto :thumbsup

uno 10-30-2004 02:45 AM

The book is wayyyyyy more graphic than the movie. It's great.

Read the part about the homeless guy a few times.

NoCarrier 10-30-2004 04:16 AM

Yes. When the killing starts it's like 100000000000000000000000% more horrible and violent than in the movie. It was quite disturbing the first time I read it.

I felt the same way when I saw the video of the russian soldier here..

emmanuelle 10-30-2004 04:35 AM

Read it a long time ago- wasn't it a source of inspiration for Paul Bernardo?

xclusive 10-30-2004 04:51 AM

Very good book it's amazing how the author brought the brutality into play...:thumbsup

ColetteX 10-30-2004 06:12 AM

Brett Easton Ellis writes great books.
Rules of Attraction is 100x's better than the movie.. same with less than zero..

Enjoy... Psycho was my favorite too...

I'm pretty sure he's written a few more books... I have yet to search them out since I got stuck behind this computer

Wiggles 10-30-2004 06:14 AM

my friend described some of the stuff he does in the book and its fucking sick, way more graphic and sick thn the movie.

Basic_man 10-30-2004 06:21 AM

What does the book is talking about ?

Captain Canada 10-30-2004 06:21 AM

The book is incredibly funny - I remember reading it in a food court at one of the local malls and I got to the part where he is taking a couple of models out to dinner and they start talking about the solar system - truly laugh out loud, tears coming down your face funny. The looks I got when people noticed that it was American Psycho I was reading.

quiet 10-30-2004 10:01 AM

i'm totally into this book now. it's unlike anything else i've ever read. very original.

and yes, Paul Bernardo said he was inspired to kill and rape after reading it.

RevSand 10-30-2004 10:57 AM

I agree with all the above that the book was WAY WAY better and more graphic then the movie ever was... The movie was well done and I liked christen bale in it but the book is way better.

I think I am going to pull it out and re-read it now actually since its been a few years.

kane 10-30-2004 11:13 AM

I've read all of his books. American Psycho is crazy, violent and funny as hell. When he goes off about the various 80's bands and singers I couldn't stop laughing. The movie isn't very good I thought.

The only book of his I didn't really like was Glam-o-rama which was about the modeling world and the "in crowd" in new york. I thought it was kind of boring, but his other stuff is amazing.

smeagal 10-30-2004 11:15 AM

Not read the book , but have seen the film 5/10:321GFY

Zoe_Zoebaboe 10-30-2004 12:35 PM

I read the book before seeing the movie.

Book is so much better! And graphic, hehe

CyberBachelor 10-30-2004 12:45 PM

saw the movie first... enjoyed both:thumbsup

CybermedAndy 10-30-2004 12:51 PM

I've read it probably 10 times now. The movie was good- just different, more satirical/less gore. They got lots of heat when they announced they were making it so they really had to tone it down

Blondie23 10-30-2004 01:03 PM

its amusing.. yet incredibly sickening.. i can't believe his imagination comes up with such disgusting scenarios.. (ie, the 'rat' scene).

cool1g 10-30-2004 01:05 PM

i read it many years ago. the movie would have to have been rated NC-17 to faithfully portray the stuff the guys does in the book!

the funniest scene is when he takes the urinal cake, coats it in chocolate syrup, freezes it, puts it in a Godiva chocolate box and gives it to his girlfriend and she bites into it. priceless! :1orglaugh

minimouse 10-30-2004 01:33 PM

I think that the business card section in the book is just classic the book is much much better than the movie.

Read less than zero after your done it's nice too.

stain 10-30-2004 02:40 PM

if you like bret easton ellis, you will definately have to read the books of mark lindquist!!!
