Do you still promote sites that offer 50% recurring?

or is 60% the standard now?

I am working with someone on getting his site more traffic and the next step is to get some affiliates, but he only offer 50% recurring....if the site has a nice tour and retains, would you all still promote it?

4Pics 10-14-2004 12:16 AM

He should offer PPS, since programs who only offer % typically do that since they don't retain members that long. Sure there are a few exceptions but the rule is if they don't offer PPS they suck ass.

cali_22 10-14-2004 12:17 AM

i say how can you ask for anything more than half the profit so im happy with 50% , but then again 60% is always better :2 cents:

Huh? Most of the better sites are recurring. The PPS sites can pay per join not because of better quality members sections, but due to squeezing more water from the rock.

50% is fine if it's a good site and works well for you.

yeah, i agree with you on that...i barely promote pps anymore except for TCG....i still get nice checks from companies I haven't actively promoted in over a year...you just gotta know how to pick em and you can do VERY well with recurring

ztik 10-14-2004 12:22 AM

are you 12 years old? it doesn't matter what a site pays. it matters how much money it makes ya.

Generally speaking this appears to be the case

Drake 10-14-2004 12:25 AM

On another note, PPS is a pretty enticing option considering lower recurring rates all around compared to years ago, as well as the shakiness of the future of things like processing. Thus, I use both, and I choose wisely.

i agree with that, but how do you know how much it will make you when you haven't sold it yet?

first step is too entice the affiliates

NickB. 10-14-2004 12:57 AM

50-60% is ok, just show your webmasters everything, membership to the site should convince them :thumbsup

oh for sure...i am redoing the affiliate page now, and it will include a temp password to the site...

this site has been totally untouched by affiliates, so it will be a good one to jump in on...not much widespread promotion yet

lots and lots of exclusive content that hasn't been seen much at all

Vitasoy 10-14-2004 01:30 AM

I'm okay with 50% as long asm I can the members area...

andrej_NDC 10-14-2004 02:23 AM

I pay 50%, but its NET. I could pay 65% and let the affiliates pay the fees, would be the same. Many programs offer 60-70%, but they let you pay the fees, or split them. Consider everything.

Amazing how many programs don't make it easy to see the members section. Ok - in most cases it only takes a few bucks to find out but what a pain in the ass to have to do.

Don't you mean you pay 50% GROSS? ie no processing fees come out of the affiliate's payment. 50% net would be about 43% gross.

Tipsy 10-14-2004 03:48 AM

Oh and to answer the original question - sure but only if the site was very, very good. It'd need to retain very well at 50% to make it worthwhile.

hehe, yes, you are right :) I mean 50% of the paysite price is your NET profit, not gross. No more deductions. :)

I love recurring. Some people never seem to cancel.

you obviosly havent seen too many member areas, i say many pps site's member areas are bullshit

Project-Shadow 10-14-2004 05:56 AM

Alot of PPS are cookie cutters. But having said that, there are always quality sites out there, that don't rely on plug-ins for retenetion.

And yes, I do promote 50%... but I prefer 60% like most sane people.

50% is still standard. If the site converts and retains why not...
