Single-handedly I work here daily, as a full time webmaster. Does this sound familiar to some of you?...

I hand submit 3 galleries per day to 500 tgp's, plus I make 2 new free sites per day, I do a photoshoot with at least one new model and get 300 new pics from that, which I then build new galleries from, plus I update 30+ webasites, plus I water the lawn, weed the flower beds, walk my dog, go out for drinks with friends, phone my mom, cook my dinner, watch tv, screw my woman, sleep for 8 full hours, and then before I get up and do it all again, I cheat death twice before breakfast.

What I'm really getting at is, how do some of us find time for a life with all this submitting, building, promoting, and resubmitting???? (and that's only the half of it for some of us)

Yes, single..er divorced (and paying through the nose for about 18 more months to a lazy, goodfornothing freeloader of an ex). Never.. ever.... ever... get married without a prenupt.

Some days I don't know how I manage to keep up with it all online (almost 6 years now) and deal with my two teenage boys and life in general. Summer is especially challenging with them home from school.

As for a man around... I've pretty much given up. All the ones I've taken an interest in seem to get way too comfortable with my bank account. I need to find someone who's secure and got his own money in bank. Most of them are either taken.. or... hiding.

I can't believe some judge actually made you pay that freeloading ex, un-real! Well, I guess it's money well-spent, it sounds like you're better off without him around, and it sounds like you've made quite a life for you and your boys.

I definitely can't say that I'm rich or well-off yet, but I CAN say that I make more now than I ever did working at my former hospital job. I do miss looking after the patients though, the job satisfaction there was very high most times.

Now I just work at home online, spend lots of time with my dog, work lots, maintain my rental property, work from home online lots, and fit some sleep in here and there. Did I mention I work online a fair bit?

I guess I just want to put in the time & effort now, so down the road I can step back a bit and afford to take some time away and relax. Maybe hire someone I trust, so they can keep things going while I go see the world or something. Nice to have someone to do that with though. In my younger days I had no problem whatsoever getting in my car and driving 300 or 400 miles to party with friends, but taking trips alone has become less than desirable in my older age (I'm a whopping 38)

Agreed about the prenup, no one should blame you one bit if you want to protect that website of yours and the income it brings you. Most people have no idea of the time and effort that has to go in to such a project, and to make it as successful as you have is, well, staggering to those of us that do know.

My problem is I've always been a workaholic, but in my previous line of work (accounting) I could always leave work at work. It's more difficult to leave when you walk by 'the office' every time you walk across the house.
The workaholic mentality that got me here can sometimes prove to be a downfall. Although it's going on 6 years, the site is still my baby. I had wanted to take an Alaskan cruise/tour this summer with my kids but when I found it meant at least a week with no net access or at best 9600 baud on a satellite phone, I bagged it. Maybe next summer.

That's the other problem with this line of work.. it's too damned portable. There's good and bad in that. The only day off I ever had was when I had pc problems for a 30 hour period (prior to the days of having a spare pc and a laptop). Once back online I had to deal with tons of email from irate visitors wanting to know where their Friday night update was. The vacations we've taken, I've ended up working in the wee hours (like now) just to have the free time during the daytime to spend with my boys. Leaves little time for sleep.

I used to be one for the long Sunday drives, but now to plan that means I work until 4 or 5 am then sleep two hours and then deal with driving the entire day.

It's tough in a world of 8 to 5'ers - 5 days a week, to get people to realize that where they have a weekend to kick back and relax, I'm shuffling work in order to kick back with them. LoL.. I dropped the guy quick that called me at 6 am on a Saturday morning ready to head to the beach (and mad at me that I wasn't ready to roll) after he'd been falling asleep at 9 pm the night before and I'd been sitting at the pc until 4 am just so that I could have the afternoon free to be with him (after what I'd hoped would be 4 or 5 hours sleep).

Geeezzz where are all the tall, handsome, well-off, self-employed, nightowls when you need them?

the last time i stayed off from my system was about for 3 days and it was like trying to stop using drugs (although i dont use). Even when i went to army for my duties for a year i had almost every day access. The whole situation looks funny, but it's not that much. When it comes for holidays I always recall also the magic words: next summer. Damn, again 11 months left to see if this time will happen http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

I always wonder about other guys, and how utterly short-sited and stupid they can be, not to mention totally self-serving. That guy should have understood that you have a business to run, and his little beach-run can be put on hold until such time as you feel comfortable to go. Dipshitz like that seem to only see what THEY want as important, and they will likely never put you and your needs first, ever. Believe me when I tell you there are a lot of women out there that are like that too. OY

So, I guess the consensus here is that once that Italian dude perfects the cloning thing, us webmasters will be the first in line? Heh heh, I wouldn't be a bit surprised. I had a week trip to the south in July. My notebook battery was broken, I tried to buy another one day before the trip but I couldn't find the fucking thing.

I traveled with my girlfriend, so I said "fuck it!". 1 week without internet. I saw 2 places with net access there and heard about another, but no no no. That was a dream. When I was back just had to get some hundreds emails, answer some dozens of them, check my sites (thanks god no bugs or server crashes this time) and work.
But what a great week. It was hard, but it was gooooood. We both loved our trip.

I don't need a clone. Just a webslave, hehe.

I find that i spend too much time putting out fires and accomplishing, sometimes very little. What it amounts to is, less productive time, and more unproductive time.

So I spend 6 hours of time screwing around with little problems and making very little in the way of html or productivity and about 2 hours of good productive time, the rest of the time is well even worse than screwing around... add to that the fact I do not peruse the boards as much, and well...

anyway September is going to be different (so I tell myself)
