Password Sentry is blocking my AOL members only... Why ?

Does any one have an idea ?

probably because they are dial-up users and their IP is shifting everytime they go online. either up your IP threshold or check your tracked users above +x daily to catch them and restore..

Thanks for your answer ! :)

Sentry is not refusing them... It is not suspending them either...
They simply can't logon... server is timing out !

I checked out with my server's techs and they said it was probably Sentry but coudn't help any more.

Yeah well.. I had to reinstall Sentry 2 weeks ago. Permission is automaticly set by the auto-install.

I really don't what permission and what file can be blocking my AOL members... It is astrange problem and I am almost sure it is caused by Sentry... But I don't understand how !

The CGI version...

chupacabra 10-12-2004 07:48 PM

...and it was not happening w/ your older installation of Sentry? did it just start after the re-install? any OS changes on the server..?

chupacabra 10-12-2004 07:50 PM

...also, your sure there isn't any filtering of your site going on over at AOL? you should really ask Dan about this directly, email him from the website, he'll probably reply to you within the hour..!

When you did the reinstall did it revert back to default settings? Maybe the threshold for IPs is too low, blocking AOL quickly since the IP's change so rapidly. Probably just haven't noticed it in other dial up customers yet because the IP's don't change quite as fast/often.

Maybe check the threshold?

AOL filters websites now. Also 8/10 of them have the same ip(behind a proxy, same way the block sites). Had a big problem with that with our password protection software

keyboard warrior 10-12-2004 08:14 PM

give all your AOL members a proxie

CHMOD 10-12-2004 08:19 PM

Hmm read all your replies and one thing I am sure is that the setup (preferences) is fine.

I just Email them and I hope there will be a reply tomorrow morning.

Thanks a lot for your help everyone. I will let you know what was the problem if we find any...

Thanks again !

:)
