Message From Groove Re Banning
Groove hit me up on ICQ and asked me to make
the following post on his behalf:
--------------------------------------------
Yes, I've been banned from GFY.
MasterBlogger will no-doubt be reveling in the
fact that I'm banned while he's still welcome.
I sent the e-mail below to Lensman 1.5 days ago.
I will say nothing else about this matter until
Lensman (hopefully) replies to my e-mail.
But I suspect I'm finished on GFY for good. :(
Groove's e-mail to Lensman:

Hi Lensman
You have apparently banned me because:
>> I haven't seen any child porn on
>> any his stuff. I didn't see any
>> in smokey's email.
>>
>> And no one else has been able to
>> forward me any proof on this guy.
>>
>> And Groove basically called me a
>> pedo in the thread title, so I
>> guess it backfired on him.
But there seems to have been a misunderstanding.
I'd appreciate a chance to explain...
My intention in starting that thread was to alert you that Sexeducation was citing Adult.com as his supporter in a thread where Sexeducation was being accused of being a pedophile. I'd assumed that you would not want your company's name being used in that context and that you would want to know about it. If I assumed wrong I'm sorry, but this was my motive for posting.
That and trying to get the troll into trouble ;)
But you're right, it backfired bigtime!
Lensman, I did *NOT* intend to imply that you're a pedophile! Why would I do that? There is no reason whatsoever for me to suggest that you are a pedophile! Any ambiguity was a result of poor grammar NOT ill intent.
Basically there should have been a comma, a colon, or something after your name. I immediately tried to clarify this issue in the thread when I was informed of the ambiguity. Please don't ban me for poor grammar! ;)
With the benefit of hindsight I also have to concede that it was STUPID of me not to at least use the term "alleged" in the thread's subject. I can understand why you'd be concerned about someone being called a pedophile without qualification and/or irrefutable evidence.
But if calling Sexeducation a "pedophile" is a banning offense there are a LARGE number of regular GFY posters who should also be banned. It seems somewhat harsh and unfair for you to single me out for banning without so much as a warning, when so many others have repeatedly said exactly the same thing about Sexeducation with impunity.
Also you have banned me without so much as a warning despite having no history as a trouble-maker on GFY. Since January 2003 I've made 3,721 posts and this is the first occasion you've had cause to so much as caution me. If you review my overall posting history you'll see that I've attempted to make a useful contribution to conversations and debates on GFY and have
rarely attacked a person as opposed to an issue.
The only reason I've given Sexeducation such a hard time is that I sincerely believe that he *IS* involved in the sexual exploitation of children. As you requested, I posted examples of why I believe this to be true. However my strongest convictions are supported by the fact that several people who's credibility I trust have said that they've seen hardcore CP posted on Sexeducation.com in the past. You've said that you haven't seen evidence to satisfy you that Sexeducation is a pedophile and I totally respect your right to hold that point of view. But I am 95% convinced that he is.
With hindsight (as stated above) I do believe I should have at least said "alleged pedophile", as anyone deserves that courtesy until they are tried and convicted in a court of law. I believe that he is a pedophile, but I accept that there is room for reasonable doubt.
FYI, pedophilia is not an esoteric concept to me. Several of my loved ones were sexually molested as children. Perhaps it's an issue that I'm too emotional about, but I'm certainly not alone in feeling this way.
In view of my otherwise clean record on GFY and the fact that there was no intent whatsoever to insult either you or Adult.com, I'd like to request that you let me off with a warning. If you want me to ignore Sexeducation in future, just say the word and I'll do that. If you want me to post a clarification and apology, I'm happy to do that also.
Whatever your decision, I'd like to apologize for any offense caused and for not being more prudent in my choice of words and punctuation. I'd also like to reiterate that I did *NOT* intend to insult you or Adult.com in any way! I am sincerely sorry and believe that I have learned a lesson.
Regards
Groove (AKA Adam)
