KRL & Men.com - unmet expectations?

Men.com sold for $1.3 million a while ago.

Announcements have been made on this board for a nationwide TV commercials campaign to be broadcast and the spots have been taped (I remember KRL asking for hot males to act in the commercials).

To this moment though, men.com looks more like a landing page than the 'magazine' it implies to be. I haven't heard a word about commercials. There is no alexa ranking.

KRL, not to bash you, but what is happening with men.com?

Fake Nick 09-26-2004 11:01 AM

it was never sold

Fake Nick 09-26-2004 11:02 AM

Interesting thread...

polish_aristocrat 09-26-2004 11:05 AM

I also wondered once about it...but hey, I still believe in KRL :thumbsup

mrgica 09-26-2004 11:10 AM

I wonder what happened with that $1500 design competition, KRL was running a while ago. None of those header designs was ever used on men.com
?

M_M 09-26-2004 11:14 AM

I dont think he is trying hard to make money from it while he owns it. It's just an investment, he's gonna sell at higher price sometime.

twistyneck 09-26-2004 11:17 AM

KRL is a bullshit artist. When he's not posting on GFY, he's flipping burgers or picking up aluminum cans. :2 cents:

speakthetruth 09-26-2004 11:18 AM

Best part is that you guys believed he really bought it in the first place.

not me :winkwink:

emthree 09-26-2004 11:26 AM

I was wondering the same, but figured "its none of my business."

I don't exactly conceder a landing page filled with "advertisers" a good way to kick start a large scaled project. Its been forever, and that applet on mainpage just lags the hell out of me.

I did however notice the stylish men.IwantU.com
Maybe focus is elsewhere for the time being. :(

Come on. He is making good money on the type in traffic while he comes up with something good. The sale probably generated lots of interest and a few emails saying 1.3 was too low I would pay you x.

cluck 09-26-2004 12:09 PM

1073 ovt with extention. That's not THAT much but the value of the domain has still increased.

The state of the domain market in general would suggest that he could sell it right now for several million.

Well, the interest and hype the sale generated really would not be imbedded in a normal surfers mind. The only good point to the sale, was that it left a lasting mark and impression on webmasters and domain buyers which will upkeep the value regardless of content.

Within the time the PRs were made to current date, most surfers would have already lost interest. Most, including myself only revisit a location X amount of times before saying -- "fuck this."

Pipecrew 09-26-2004 12:15 PM

The name has potential, the site just needs to be handed over to a web development company and gutted.

i don't *know* anything - i know what I believe tho. the rumors surrounding that sale are plausible - only those involved in the sale know the truth.

it wouldn't shock me if the sale was a legitimate sale and it wouldn't suprise me if it was something else.

... hahaha, and he made more $$$ aswell.

but this is non adult and it ain't 1999 anymore. the current setup of men.com won't make more than $150 per day.

It does, just take it out of context. The origin/principle remains the same.

I think they changed their mind and decided to buy the master suites of SexEducation.com domain names.
COM/NET/ORG/TV

Just waiting on the overnight cashiers cheque before transferring the domain names ...

lol

swami 09-26-2004 02:00 PM

I am sure KRL like most of us has too many irons in the fire and its just a matter of time before he focuses on men.com.
Saying that I cannot believe he has not employed a good SEO to help him with men.com.I could have had that site making $1000 a day clear profit by now, no risk and with white hat SEO.

bluff you're on to something

remember, KRL is a typical Jewish spinmaster.....they build empires out of nothing. but marketing hype and fluff.

To the trained professional, men.com's current state is worth less than a few thousand dollars tops.

Of course, KRL's intentions are to launch this venture amidst a wave of publicity and hype, have it go public, and cash out at the peak, as per usual Jewish tactics.......just remember, men.com will never amount to anything of value to humanity....it's just more jewish drivel used to exploit the unwitting goys who are dumb enough to invest/buy into the concept.

There are three things getting mixed in here:

1) Is the site a disappointment?

Yup. Totally.

2) Did $1.3 million really change hands?

I highly doubt it, and anyone with a brain can make their own judgement on that.

3) Is KRL a good guy?

It certainly appears so.

It's sad when people hate for the sake of hating, but it's also sad when people wake up and realize that the domain world is about 50/50 on reality and b.s. The pros know the difference and the rest of the gang backslaps and pays the price later.

You can't blame KRL for that--he just played by the rules.

Hate the game, don't hate the player.
