dam those are old school i was thinking more along the lines of NoFx, Pennywise, Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, even Greenday..

well nothing wrong with those either..just my tastes run to older punk with a side order or modern.

Greenday I like in the right mood but they are a poor person's Clash :)

Of 'modern' punk I like Rancid the most I suppose.

Sex pistols invented punk!!!!

well they started out much closer to punk then they are now when they were touring with pansy division, etc but these days they are punk-pop.

doesn't make them the best at it...i like them a GREAT deal. Heck, part of the reason I let my husband fuck me for the first time was that he was on the boat in the Thames when the Pistols got arrested for playing. However, musically, I think there are a few better..the Buzzcocks especially.

Btw..my fave punk song is and always will be the Dammed version of Jet Boy, Jet Girl.

Green Day are just a weird eveloution of punk but i tend to lean towards the clash and sex pistols myself...

mentioned them above..they are important to me just because Timebomb was on the radio in the car when I 'came out' to my mom as a punk chick. That sounds silly but it was as bad as me telling her that I anally raped her grandmother while pouring sugar in her gas tank.

The Clash will probably always be my favorite, because they were my first exposure to punk music. (the first album I ever bought with my own $ was Combat Rock)

I like NOFX.

They've stay true the the "punk" philosophy. Their tunes kick ass. And they've heavily influenced a lot of the newer bands out there today.

Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Cro-Mags, Youth of Today, Ryker's, the Dwarves, the Exploited, Minor Threat, Reagan Youth, NoFX.

Danzig is up there with Joe Strummer as the voice most people try and copy..

my hubby still has his 'punk scars' from the various kickings he got in London in the 70s. Though I will not say the Pistols are the best ever (most famous ever perhaps) but Rotten took enough serious beatings for just walking down the street to earn his badge.
