Canada finally won a gold medal !!!!!
In ............
Man .... GYMNASTIC on the ground ... what the fuck ? |
Canada didn't win anything, Kyle Shewfelt did.
Why must entire countries take credit for the accomplishments of one person? |

Its pretty sad, the country my parents are from which is a fairly new country has three medals, and Canada now has four - the same as thailand.
I actually read an article in the newspaper that indicated that Romania gives its gold medal winners and additional 50k, I believe the US gives its winner 25 (I could be wrong) and even Kenya gives its gold winners a flat screen tv washer and a dryer. Canadian gold medal winners receive nothing. BG |
FINALLY....

I was watching a documentary awhile ago on Daniel Igali, gold medal winner for Canada in Sydney. Even after he won gold, he didn't receive any sponsorship deals, he had to ask Cheerios to sponsor him after meeting one of the execs at an award ceremony. |

I am glad in the advent of new drug testing these athletes will lose their medals should they be caught. As a side note, look at Germany in the 80's, their athletes were apparently given steroids without even knowing it (apparently - but you explain how one day yu have tits, the next they disapear and you have two testicles). I am not sure as to whether or not they reaped any financial benefits - but I feel it was more about national pride more so than anything. BG |

Actually a lot of them do have jobs - how long do you think their training takes? I would think more than a few hours. All I am saying is that the Government should assist them. Hell we illegal aliens - why not our athletes? BG |

They receive so little funding that she had to wear her Quebec uniform while representing Canada. She actually sewed a Canadian flag on her uniform so it at least looked like she represented this country. Our tax dollars have more to do with supporting uncountable levels of fat, lazy, corrupt government than helping our atheletes. Or anyone else who's not a politician, for that matter. |

And compare the athletes from Quebec vs rest of canada . I'm sure the ratio is higher from here. |
