Domain Drop Test. 2nd round.

Here are the results from my 2nd domain drop test. all domains dropped same day during 2nd week of august.

For this "domain drop" test, I placed 23 domains into the following drop services to see which service is most effective:

Drop Services (these are my bids/prices, bids can go much higher):

+Pool: $60 paid only if caught, if multiple people bid, if goes to 3 day auction
+GoDaddy: $15+, but only 1 backorder per domain, paid in advance, and get credit if not captured
+NameWinner: $30-$50+ bids,
+SnapNames: $60 paid only if caught, if multiple people bid, if goes to 3 day auction
+Enom's Club Drop: $30-$50 bids, but if multiple people bid, if goes to 3 day auction. can get some drops < $20

fortunately I was able to get exclusive backorder at godaddy for SOME, so this was NOT a perfect test.

Drop Scores:

+Pool: 4/23
+GoDaddy: 0/23 - tried to reserve all 23 here. only got 8 reservations... but other domains were caught by enom
+NameWinner: 0/23
+SnapNames: 3/23
+Enom: 16/23 got a few for under $30 which was less than my bids at pool/sn/nw

Glean what you want from my test. Remember, it pays to backorder everywhere. Ok. for those that want to test the waters of the DOMAIN DROP game...

another 3letter is dropping on 8/19:

If you need a cheaper enom account, just let me know. Joining direct will put your price at $29.95 per name instead of say $8.95 per name.

Taboo, I like your attitude.

Thanks for sharing :thumbsup

Krs would be a good fan site for krs-one

To be honest, I like his character, but i don't understand his attitude at all.
Once again, this is like Wired Guy saying how to get number 1 on Google.

Someone wants to get inolved in the domain biz, he should read lots of threads here and on other forums, make lots of research, read some articles and try things out.
And not read two GFY threads and then he becomes a domain guru within 2 hours

:2 cents:

And no, i am not jelous or selfish, i am not bigging on Pool anymore anyway, since i almost never win something and I am too lazy to monitor every day the lists when i don't get these names anyway.
But there was a time I was very interewsted in the doamin market so i spent lots of time researching is and using my brain.
And now people are given the info for free.

ClamSmacker 08-16-2004 08:18 AM

Great info as usual :thumbsup

Gindorbrae !

I had no funds so I was thinking 10 times before i took a decision on which domain to buy, on which domain to bid or how to eveluate the type-in traffic on a name.

And Taboo is saying, he's sharing all his knowledge because he doesnt want people to lose money.
If they are stupid, they will lose it, period.
I don't understand how Taboo can be saying "people don't have knowledge about domains and there are many misunderstandings about that sector" so i will teach them.

Once again, I am not a hater, I am one of the most friendly guys on GFY.... that means i also quite often give some tips to some people ( when it comes to different things )..but I'd never share all the hard earned knowledge in the way Taboo is doing it.

And once again Taboo - no offense, i said it before, i am saying it again, i like you, but IMo you're simply saying too much.

dennisthemenace 08-16-2004 08:24 AM

Your threads have been great Taboo

I thought he said he wasn't bidding on names much anymore himself, so that may factor into it. It doesn't really create competition for himself if he's not doing it anymore. It just hurts those who are still doing it.

oh come on, the info he's giving away isn't that amazing.. should be common sense that bidding in as many places as possible is your best bet on catching these names.

i do a bit of domaining myself and i think it's very nice of him to help people interested get of the ground. it will pay off for him eventually. he's networking.

rock on taboo!

:winkwink:

once again, all valid points. i know you're not hating... I've seen your other posts, you are a nice guy. but i'm just here to network. you know, join forces with people, collaborate. there's lots of hard work involved beyond just reading the info I've shared. I've just listed a few tips and resources, it's up to them to sweat it out. There is a lot more out there. but I get emails from people that thank me and want to trade me their resources/services for some of mine. that's exactly why I'm here.

and bottom line... there are plenty of domains out there for the taking.

here's an example and some ppl will hate these domains, but I need them and they were open a few days ago...

I needed some domains for adult sites (facial, creampie, schoolgirl, cam, pov, etc) and tried to buy some domains on aftermarket via email. The replies were HUGE $1,000+ prices so I went deep domain mining and found these gems:

CheerleaderClub.com
ClubCreampie(s).com, Creampie(s)Online.com
ClubPOV.com, POVclub.com
PPVclub.com, ClubPPV.com
SchoolgirlOnline.com
RookieCam.com
PenisVision.com
DancerVision.com
(The)PornSupremacy.com (humor site)
KinkPorn.com

for other projects:

ToeTagged.com (to go with TeaBagged.com)
HighRollerHost.com (for casino whale wrangling)
DomainFetish.com (for my email addy and for others like me) :)
2257news.com (links/resources)
TranceSites.com (to go with DJsites.com)

and a few more... for $7 each, and if I wasn't developing for myself, i could build-and-flip quick or just flip the name. maybe not for a million but more than $7. :)

...back to the mines.

+Enom's Club Drop: $30-$50 bids, but if multiple people bid, if goes to 3 day auction. can get some drops < $20

[/url]

I need clarification on how club drop works. The way I read their faq is that whenever there is a multiple bid on any domain it goes to a three day auction. So why not just bid $10 on every domain since if someone else bids its going to go to auction anyway? Unless it means you only go to auction if you are the high bid and someone else bids the same as you? You say $30-$50, is this the range you recommend bidding?

You can bid $10 on every name, and go to auction with everyone else.

but of course DON'T BID ON EVERY name. just the ones you're willing to spend $10+YourRate on. :winkwink:

that's my whole point with major domains that are dropping, people can use these as a stepping stone to get in the game as a spectator on the inside. there's no way KRS.com will go for $10 or $60 for that matter, so it can't hurt to watch it at pool, snapnames, enom, etc. btw, it's already 500 at enom, 750 at namewinner. this way you can learn how/when drops work, how extended auctions work, etc.

I think his info is more like a newbie guide.

Also, you're thinking wrong. If he creates some sort of gold rush towards domains, i'm sure that is to his advantage. He owns domains, and if prices increase because of demand, his wealth grows.

Thanks, doesn't make sense to bid more and pay more if nobody else bids.

:1orglaugh

you're right, it's more of a startup guide. and I don't need to create a "gold rush" for domains. the gold rush has already been going on for years... this is the second wave and it's a tsunami. I've also been showing people how to create demand for their domains instead of waiting for people to come to them.

(7 pages strong)
http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=338092

My domain portfolio is big enough and I don't need to play this game as hardcore as before. I've got enough to keep me busy: Official.com,Curious.com,VIPclub.com etc. I only plan to flip one name a year to pay for my renewals, bills, business plans and lifestyle. My masterplan is to incubate businesses and find suitors. I'm not posting here to increase my wealth or postcount or to bring more attention to my ideas, in fact when I contact mainstream partners and investors they call me "Bruce Wayne" and I only direct them to http://www.InStealthMode.com for info. :)

Some people find it so hard to believe that "networking" is the most useful and priceless tool around, and its free.

Triple 6 08-16-2004 10:21 AM

i used pool.com last year to get a gaming domain that was dropping... every1 here said go with Pool. They were avle to get the domain but i wasnt the only person who backordered from there. 3 day auction happened but the other bidders didnt show up, so i won.

ha!

but i may have to try Enom from looking at the results above...

Taboo, what value do expired domains hold ?

doesnt google drop their PR for about a 12 month period ?

lol, 'in stealth mode'... i remember back when i was heavy into the domain game, i would be looking up new names to get and 'in stealth mode' a couple times beat me to the punch, by a matter of minutes once or twice. LoL.

i dont remember which names tho...

value? eye of the beholder. i've let trash drop and seen it go for $500 - $1000+ at drop site. it hurts like hell. If ppl plan to develop, holds great value because google is not the only traffic source out there. I let interneXtexpo.com drop years ago (after I acquired InternetExpo.com / iExpo.com), along with many other internext domains and we all know who owns it now. I'm :1orglaugh and :( at the same time whenever I see their domain. re: PR, you are always at Google's mercy, but I've heard the same thing ranging from 3-12 months or blacklisted domains that drop. so, bottom line is if you are buying expired domains for their traffic/PR do hardcore research first. if the name is for development or resale... one man's trash, another man's treasure. :)

ask that question to other SEOs or at seo chat and you'll get lots of mis-info/mis-direction.

I agree. Taboo seems like a nice guy, but sharing all his info is extremely unwise. Basically, what he has done is created more competition and ensured that when domains go to auction, they will sell for maximum retail value because of all the new people bidding on them.

I know there are a shitload of millionaire lurkers reading this right now thinking the same thing. :winkwink:

yes you all have discovered my secret. I secretly hold equity stakes in every drop service, and every domain that gets registered anywhere by anyone, I get a royalty of $.01, but believe me, they add up. Plus, a long time ago I met with the guy who invented the internet and tricked him into giving me 5% so now everytime someone types in a domain name, I get another $.01 - LOL... I'm rich bitch!

j/k.

seriously. it's all about the networking. i'm happy with the emails I get and now I have even more reasons to share.

but i know i'll never hear the end of it. :)
