Why do car dealerships have salesmen? After all you are interested in the car already because you have seen commercials and/or read up on them. As a matter of fact I have never had a salesman know more about a car than I have.
Why do lawyers have paralegals? After all they spent years and lots of money studying cases, why do they have other people to look up things for them concerning the cases they have?
Why do hospitals have nurses when they have doctors?
Why do pharmacudical companies have outside sales when they have pharmacists?
The reason is because you the consumer want someone to answer questions because you are probably not going to take the time to look up technical information yourself. The second half is because the big boys always want to spend their time making new ways to create money, they do not want to be actively selling their own products, that is impossible to do when you reach a good size in business or you have a conglomorate. In all honesty the best anything sells itself and the information on it is readily available and easy to understand by the consumer.
Why are sales reps usually attractive women? Because people love attractive people even when they "hate them". You will pay more attention to what they say and also overlook mistakes they may make. The reason they are women more than men is because men and women are attracted to women, an attractive man in sales can be a man's man and sell anyone but not as quickly and as easily as an attractive and fairly knowledgeable female. These are brick and mortar principles of business that people have brought to the net with much sucess. EVERYTHING effects sales on a general level down to the tonation of the voice and what you perceive the attitude of the individual selling you to be. A sales person's job is to figure out what you want to hear and customise themselves and the product to not lose the sale more than to be active in your making a choice.
Some of us are not sold by the sales rep we are sold or lost by the product itself, others are not like that and so the sales rep is there to take care of both of us, something nice to talk to while we make up our mind or turn us into mush and get them off their money. I have talked to a few of the sales reps that these posts are about, they seemed generally knowlegdeable and were curtious, all in all they did their jobs, but being a businessman I never sign up or for anything I do not read myself, I was pointed to the information concerning the programs and products and that is what cemented it.
Most of this sales rep blame is crap, the sales rep has nothing to do with how your traffic will convert, nor are they the designers of the sites/programs, they are simply the middle man between you and the consumers you control and the product that the companies they are selling for because those in control are a bit to busy to handle it themselves. If you do not convert ask yourself is your traffic not good on your side or is there something they are not diong that you think they could to work for your traffic, then think if your traffic is worthy of them changing what may be working for others because of it. How any of the blame is logically put on the salesman unless they lied about pertinent info to sell you then I would like to know it so I could become a "better" businessman because I do not see it. Also not liking a sales rep may make you lose out on a good program, just because the salesman does not know the product well does not mean the product will not make you money so it is best to check up on things yourself either way.
