our count will be very very close to your outbound count to our links. we hardcode and count on entry.
second and third page counting is a long running trend that fails to give an accurate count of eyeballs. people will always argue that all that matters is the size of the check- which is true, but why not show the real primary click totals with your large checks to match? take care |

also, don't forget about sloppy tracking scripts that only track via cookies (for surfers who have them turned off), closed browsers where the page doesn't fully load, etc. |

It varies by sponsor, but many are undercounting. Also, more and more are starting to count "2nd page" hits. Of course, there's no way for a "2nd page" hit to be independently verified so it's pretty meaningless. Sponsors know that people are using StatsRemote, so they figure lower numbers will make their ratios look better. But I always look at my own outclick totals, so I can know the real ratio. |

Could be due to spy-/scumware and firewalls blocking HTTP_REFERAL on surfers' computers.. :2 cents: :(

I didn't know that the method you mentioned is a common one though. Also, aren't you talking about the method they use for keeping track "internally" of your traffic once it's there with them..? According to what Veterans Day says, if his sponsors are counting FIRST page hits... it makes no sense that they show less than he sends. Hence my suspicions of malware, firewalls and all else that can influence... |

--- Whether you use a software or check your stats manually there is one thing you should always remember: Sponsors count hits differently. Some sponsors count first page raw's, some count second page unique's, and others seem to count eighth page unique's even though there is no eighth page. It always amazes me when people compare the ratios of two sponsors that count hits totally differently and base their decisions only on these ratios. Therefore a software like StatsRemote can only help you to a certain extend. You will have all your numbers right in front of you but you still have to make the right decisions by yourself. Always remember: A fool with a tool is still a fool ;-) |
