An interesting article by Ted Turner on big media
|
good read.. I hope everyone knows who Ted Turner is, lol
|
very good read,he's a smart man.. nowtake that same theory and apply it to just about every business model in the US and you quickly see this country is being taken over by large corporations.

if just about every business model in the US is being taken over large corporations, why then do the small companies still create the most jobs and has been for decades, and will not change any time soon. large corporations ARE not taking over. |

Back when I was a kid I remember going to the local corner/drug store owned by a local pharmacist. I'm sure it was much the same thing in every town in the 70s-80s.. Today try and find a local drug store that is not Eckerd drugs, Walgreen's or CVS.. let alone the major super stores that are even trying to put those chains out of business such as Target and Wal-mart. That drastic change happened in the span of 20 years or so.. if left un regulated what will the next 20 years bring? |
it's already happening...all the same music is pushed on us..the same horrible movies (mostly rewrites of scripts from the 60's-70's)
Now the Carlyle group is getting in the biz it will be even more multi faceted..clothing...magazines..furnishing styles..cars... Push only the things you own portions of. |

I think you emphasized THE wrong word. |
Damn good read
I like Ted Turner. He may have that southern drawl and say "um" a lot, but he's a very smart man... |
Large corporations are taking over. The article is media focused and that's where the biggest example of this can be seen. Big companies are swallowing small ones faster than ever, which adds to this situation. The small companies sellout quickly because they can't grow any other way in today's scene. Not to mention the government isn't helping anything. It's a big clusterfuck.

Despite abhoring CNN, I have a new found respect for that man.
