I like firefox because of its diverse plugins, skin options etc.

And I'm not here to argue just my personal preference.

tabs blow me... it's all about IE... just remember IE hasbeen here and will always be here... it won;t be long before people start cracking it

Jace 07-16-2004 05:24 PM

IE for me...i do too much design and would have to open IE every time to check a page anyway, so why bother with anything else

cayne 07-16-2004 05:25 PM

I switched to opera because I got a worm, only because I missed to install one IE update. now I'm using IE only for few plug-in things. but opera and mozilla are better in every point.

Except for the fact that it's open source and exploits will be patched MUCH faster than WinBLOWS Internet Explorer.

Not sure what u mean?

IE as a serious browser was one of the last on the scene

4Pics 07-16-2004 05:27 PM

I use both, but some things i have to use ie for. (Comus Thumbs)

Firefox has my love.

DirtyDanza 07-16-2004 05:28 PM

your all whiny mutherfuckers... IE is whats it's all about... nuff said... you can all keep switching.. that reminds me of people that have to have the newest set of rims.. everyone rocks em till they find a defect and crack

Would be nice to know if your designs look ok on Firefox to...

I like the tabbed browsing and security of Firefox, but IE is much faster.
Whenever Firefox gains to much populairity: 1 it will be the target for virus programmers and 2 MS will release a new IE quickly.

Paul Waters 07-16-2004 05:29 PM

IE is preferred by virus and trojan authors 100-1.......

excatly... gates has the funds and would not even sweat about buying firefox out and making it MS... firefox is hurting for a burger and would sell in a heartbeat if they were really that smart

isnt that why u go and buy a virus scanner? Oh i dunno, say norton for example? TO GET RID OF VIRUSES..There all over the net and not to have one is rediculous..you might as well stop using the computer cuz your giving viruses an easy gateway

he cant buy firefox, remember the whole monopoly thing?

---

and i like both equaly, atm i am surfing with IE because i find pages look better,

Mozilla is much faster for me though, so there is pros and cons on both. :Graucho

TurboTrucker 07-16-2004 05:33 PM

I like Opera, it's much more efficient for surfing the web than IE. I still use IE sometimes because some things I use don't display properly in Opera. Firefox I didn't like.

candyflip 07-16-2004 05:33 PM

I use AvantBrowser for testing my pages in IE. Most of the time it just sits idle in the task bar. Has a lot of the same features that Firefox has.

http://www.avantbrowser.com

jimmyf 07-16-2004 05:34 PM

it's all about security, if or when Mozilla Foxfire get un-security then I'll switch 2 something else. After all it's just a fucking browser, a tool. And the last time I checked, I had never fell in love with a Tool. :Graucho

Who says they're hurting? They look stronger than ever to me! There's room for more sharks in the water. Make room for Mozilla!

Isn't it obvious that more webmasters choose browsers other than IE? It's probably for a few good reasons. Stop believing in Corporate America so much!

KRL 07-16-2004 05:38 PM

Opera is the most full featured browser on the market.

I absolutely love it and endorse it 100% over IE.

Just because IE is owned by the biggest software company doesn't in any way make it better than other browsers....

FireFox :thumbsup

I'm not putting down IE or Firefox. I've got those both on all my PC's now. They are what they are. But of the three I've gotten totally hooked on all the cool features Opera has.

I'm a very picky person when it comes to my PC's. Somedays I work 14 hours a day online and therefor I demand the very best software to maximize my productivity and also enjoyment while working long hours at a stretch.

Opera ROCKS! And that's the bottom line for me.

Thrawn$ 07-16-2004 06:06 PM

I can't use IE anymore

Vitasoy 07-16-2004 06:10 PM

I've been using IE for years, but firefox, opera is also great. I use IE a bit more then the others cause I'm more used to it

n3in 07-16-2004 06:13 PM

I've always been an IE user, but I may make the switch soon because ive heard so many good things about firefox.

Tom_PMs 07-16-2004 06:13 PM

I havent found a personally compelling reason to switch from IE yet. However the night is still young.

According to my server logs, still over 85.8% of my visitors are on IE still. That number is trending down, but still pretty significant.

mozilla still accounts for 1% maybe 2% of traffic on the net. it is a pain in the ass to write code for it. they used to be good but they got stupid.

ie sucks also but 99 to 98% of people use it plus it comes with your OS so why install some other shit that installs more shit and plug ins.

tabs ahhh whatever if you have a good box you can do away with new windows.

As far as worms and updates. duh you have to keep an eye on your box. it is not like a car that you run untill it dies you have to do oil changes. people always complain about Windows because of updates and crap.

Check out MAC stil 1 or 2% of the world use it and even less programs are made for it.

I know bill is the devil but why fight when you can join them hehe.

Maybe you haven't heard of Spyware, Browser hiJacks and auto install trojans. The shit that gets installed just by visiting a page or loading a counter which is insane. That's why I made the switch and that's why many others have as well. As far as 98%-99% using IE, that number is pretty skewed. I'd say it's somewhere in the 80's or even slightly lower.

People who NEED a clean computer generally tend to lean towards a safer browser like Firefox Opera, etc.

David! 07-16-2004 06:42 PM

IE cuz I'm used to it :2 cents:
I also have Netscape, Opera and Firefox to check pages in all 4 browsers in Dreamweaver

project_naughty 07-16-2004 06:42 PM

If I want speed I go for IE. If I feel l33t I use Firefox.

yes you are right i have not heard from them here is why
Golden rule of internet surfing always say no to any pop up.

rule #2 spend some money on lavasoft adaware. it works great EXORCISING the devil from your computer

rule #3 if you are a webmaster learn not to fall on other peoples traps.

i have never been hit by a virus had a computer hacked or hijacked or anything.

:)

benc 07-16-2004 06:46 PM

I like IE. Its fast, I like its feel and function.

Combined with google toolbar its a pretty good combo. I only had one major spyware incident in the last couple years and fixed it quick.

inabon 07-16-2004 06:48 PM

ahh i forgot

rule #1 with windows alwasy stay up to date. it is simple and automatic. same with anti virus

#1. I update Windows or search for updates DAILY. (as you have numbered in your following thread)

#2. I say no to all popups. Hence why I installed the google toolbar which caught ALL for a while until people found ways around them.

#3. I have Adaware, Hijack this and Spybot Search and Destroy. Any other suggestions?? Oh ya... I also have Norton running 24-7.

#4. I don't "fall" for traps. Sometimes people decide to take once reputable sites and fuck with them for a quick buck. Also, sometimes it's possible to misspell a domain and get slammed by popups, autoinstalls, viruses, etc.

#5. Good for you. Run some other spyware programd on top of Ad Aware. You just may find a few surprises. If not, consideryourself in the 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000001% of all internet users who can say the same thing.
