Tonight the sig market starts. New sig rule change!!

Good news for sig buyers and sellers.

Since the sig market starts 2nite, I wanted to let everyone know that we are now allowing sigs to be sold on a per-post or impression basis. HOWEVER, if you are selling your sigs on this basis, useless posts will result in bannage. So the rule here really is that you should continue to post normally, and not post for posting's sake.

I also encourage anyone who buys sigs via this method to require a 6 word minimum per post, but that's their business. If someone buys sigs and tolerates one-word posts, than we will have no choice but to ban the poster who does this.

Summer slow down for sig whores?

StuartD 06-26-2004 09:23 AM

I think you mean "useless posts"... not "unless posts" :winkwink:

It'll be tough to monitor it all, but I do agree. I'd hate for it to become a whole new ars sig whore situation... but per impression is the best for the buyers to ensure they're getting their money's worth.

:thumbsup

I would think that actual "per click that leads to program signup" would be more important.....

doornx 06-26-2004 09:26 AM

this will be impossible to monitor...unless you put a team on it
Maybe you need to add another rule, that per impressions sigs can only be sold to people who registered 6 or 12 months ago

Should I sell my empty sig?

Are those all the rules, or is there a minimum number of posts as well?

Spunky 06-26-2004 09:41 AM

I haven't seen too many people doing that...But like mentioned before, you're going to need more eyes to monitor it.

Juicy D. Links 06-26-2004 09:45 AM

I think you need to have been a member for at least 3 months.

Ahh, thanks for that, MaskedMan. Guess my 20+ posts per day are just worthless, hehe. (no need to agree, honest)

I would never

...abuse the system.

Dravyk 06-26-2004 10:41 AM

It's precisely those one-icon-only replies that are the most annoying.

Granted there are certainly times when a thread response can be summed up in a single icon. It's when you see the same folks doing that constantly (and rarely anything other than that) which is overboard.

Shit, I could have a five-digit post count too if all of my posts consisted of a single mouse click. :1orglaugh

yet again we are heavily supporting the downfall of GFY as a quality webmaster board.

Titty Fucker 06-26-2004 10:54 AM

Sometimes 1 word posts are all you need to get your point across :2 cents:

Good Rule, hope it cuts down on "board clutter". :thumbsup

Doctor Dre 06-26-2004 11:27 AM

NOOOOO

I really hope you will enforce the bannage because this will become ARS #2 again

Not really ... it always depends on what the program wants . Topbucks from what I understand buy sigs to get their name arround ... they are already well known and they want to keep their name everywhere :)

How so ? Give me an example :) thx

Elli 06-26-2004 11:34 AM

What about implied words? Like if Sleazy types "idiot" but ACTUALLY MEANS "Oh my god you are such an idiot that words do not exist to describe your lack of.. whatever the hell it is that you don't have, but really responding to your post is a waste of my precious time, so I'll just call you an idiot."

Surely that should meet the 6 word limit. :thumbsup

Paul Markham 06-26-2004 11:35 AM

OK

*Are those not selling sigs allowed one word posts? :1orglaugh *

I dont think people like sleazy will be on a pay per post schedule . I wont, unless everybody stats doing that ... I got a deal anyways

I dont agree with that . One icon, I skip the post . If I have to read a thread where 50 % of the posts are total bullshit (aka ars sig whores) that piss me off. That just dilute the content so much

What does Lensman care for the "quality" of this board? The search never works, there is almost no moderation, etc..He still makes whatever he makes from it. Less than 6 word replies are one of the least consequential factors affecting quality of this board in my opinion. And as far as Lensman is concerned, I think that would probably be a good thing.
