Thursday night. Gretchen was leaving National Net suite late night. very drunk guy got into elevator with laptop under his arm, got downstairws, needed help finding his room. she walked him over to suites behind tower-he kept saying he wanted to talk and was running laptop to his room and would be right down. He said he worked for MSNBC, dropped big name broadcasters and said he had a story for us. Dark hair, budgy, pale, white shirt, droopy heavy around middle section, nicely dressed, partial bald about 5'5-5'6 in height. She didn't continue conversation with him because he was too drunk and she was nervous but laptop latenight raised a flag to her. Maybe call hotel and see who registered under MSNBC...

I'll bump the thread, I really feel your loss. :(

But more likely than not its probably sitting in one of the many San Diego pawnshops, damn crackheads have no clue what the real worth is with a stolen laptop, its the data, not the actual unit itself.

I would be checking out that prospect if you can, also, I really hate seeing posts and mails like this, so I expect everyone reading this and attending conferences and meetings to buy a good laptop cable and locking unit.

For $50 its an investment that's worth its weight in gold, lock that sucker around your toilet, crackheads don't bring bolt cutters, nor will likely smash your shitter to get your laptop, they will look for an easier target.

I really hope you find your laptop, and the asshat that took it, trust me, if someone did that to me... well we won't talk what would happen that that party. :ugone2far

Well, at this point, of course, I've written the laptop off and my new one arrives on Wednesday.

It's really not so much the loss of the laptop as the fact that someone was in my bedroom at our party repaying our hospitality in that way...

We hired security after the first night...shame it has to be that way...

However, let me just add that although I've written off the laptop, I STILL want to find out who did it and make "sure" they never do anything like that again...
