Legal Documents...Model Release/Photographer release
 

Im Having trouble drafting my new model release forms and photographer release forms for the upcoming summer season...do any of you know where i can get a few templates for them or the actual forms?

And what do you guys do about legal representation?

I just want to make sure all my bases are covered before i get into all this...

Actually, what Aaron said was correct, if you're going to shoot content and you don't have the money to get yourself a lawyer to go over your documents, you shouldn't be fucking shooting content. Why? Because when you fuck up, it makes it harder for those in the industry who ARE doing things the right way. Content can be a risky gig as it is... when people cheap out and figure it will all slide, they are making MY job harder, Aaron's job harder, and all the other content shooters/sellers who are willing to put out the bucks to protect their own asses. All it takes is ONE fuckup to put us ALL under the scope.

The best advice anyone on or off this board could give on this issue is "get a lawyer". This is too important an issue to go about half-assed and trusting people's advice who's credentials or legal knowledge you have no way of verfifying. Sure, AaronM could have been nicer about it, but like he said, this is GFY and you have to learn quick to have tougher skin around here. My advice is: don't trust a board for legal advice...talk to an actual lawyer. :2 cents:

That and the fact that some specifics of laws will vary from state to state, unless they are written locally and with local laws in mind, they could miss very important elements of protection for all parties involved. Touchy stuff.

For those that may be new and not know ? a PIC tag can identify you as an adult content site and help protect children from seeing what many parents prefer they don?t.. Many law firms don?t know jack about HTML it would appear and might miss this. I am not an attorney, but I think it is of moral value to include the info on your site and to list with an organization like ICRA. Could you use it as some protection in court??? Don?t know. Would it be an open admission to something??? That?s why you hire an attorney, one that knows his/her stuff. Assuming you have the cash. Until then, wing it and use resources available online.

My Attorney only charged $ 250.00 for a one page model release. He is familiar with them. Call around a bit, look for Media Attornies they normally have Model release forms already and won't charge much

1st rule of operating a content production business: Consult a lawyer and get your paper work in order before snapping any pics of shooting any video.

2nd rule of operating a content production business: DON'T consult anyone on GFY for anything other than finding out if the majority of these pudknockers would "hit" any of your models...
