I just made the biggest mistake of my life...

Last night I ran out of steaks that I bought through a friend from Omaha Steaks.

So right now I'm sitting here at the Omaha Steaks site, first time ever, and I need to change my shorts. This food... this meat... these potatoes... my life is officially over. I'm calling my sponsors now and switching the Pay To field on my checks to Omaha Steaks.

Burgers, prime rib, filet mignon, sirloin... how could anyone possibly be a vegetarian?!

Jakke PNG 05-14-2004 10:19 AM

wheat is murder.

Sosa 05-14-2004 10:21 AM

JSA Matt 05-14-2004 10:23 AM

So i'm invited to dinner, right? :Graucho

brand0n 05-14-2004 10:23 AM

jhauser 05-14-2004 10:24 AM

I will be over at 6pm with an empty stomach.

I have offically banned all of my machiness from ever going to their website again. Last time I did they had to slaughter 500 cows...

Lord Helpus 05-14-2004 10:31 AM

A friend served me some steaks last week from www.lonestarsteaks.com and I thought they were even better than Omaha, which I've always loved. Quit, you're making me hungry!

Lucy 05-14-2004 10:38 AM

How do you like your steak to be cooked? rare or prefer well...?:Graucho

Sly_RJ 05-14-2004 10:39 AM

I don't eat much, so when I do eat I like it to be good food. Thank God my freezer is full or this would be an absolute disaster, especially with grilling season under way.

iFliPcEss 05-14-2004 10:46 AM

looks oh so yummy, good thing I dunno how to cook such kind of dish

VirtuMike 05-14-2004 10:53 AM

Mmmmm cow.

moo.

gornyhuy 05-14-2004 10:59 AM

Grilling is so fucking awesome...

Nothing like a big fat steak on the grill or a nice marinated salmon sizzling away... Specially with an ice cold beer or a nice pitcher of Sangria or something on the side.

SUMMER TIME!

YUMMY STEAK!!!!

Jamie 05-14-2004 11:17 AM

grew up on Nebraska steaks, born there. The reason their meat is soo good is cause they are corn fed + hormones :)

mindoza 05-14-2004 11:19 AM

I still go to the old fashion butcher. It is red and white in there 7 freezing cold. There is a full size bull with a ring through its nose in the front of the store. I buy for two weeks.

I just went home during lunch and marinaded a flank steak in my own homemade hoison sauce. Yummy! can not wait for dinner tonight!

I'm from Iowa. I know all about it. :)

Wilber 05-14-2004 12:44 PM

On sale 4 X 18oz T-Bone steaks for $79.00?
  • $79.00 ÷ 4 = $19.75 per 18.oz steak
  • $19.75 ÷ 18oz = $1.09 per ounce
  • $1.09 × 16oz = $17.44 per lb(pound)

Unless that shit is wrapped in gold leaf that's a rip-off.

you obviously havent gained the higher respect for gooooood beef that the rest of us have. i for one have paid damn near 100 bucks for a stake in the past. plan to again tomorrow night in fact.

Loryn 05-14-2004 12:52 PM

I love steak!!! :thumbsup

beemk 05-14-2004 12:55 PM

ive never been to the site or ordered from there.... what makes them different from going to the grocery store and buying steaks?

Rictor 05-14-2004 12:59 PM

Steaks are icky. I can eat the occasional burger though.

beemk 05-14-2004 12:59 PM

i just checked it out, what the hell do they send a chef to cook it for you? these prices are ridiculous. $16 a pound for top sirloin? even maverick angus is like 1/2 that price in the store.

What do you think I go out in the pasture and carve out a
chuck of a cow's ass to save money?

Just because you think a steak has to be $100.00 doesn't mean
your a connoisseur of beef. I'm surprised someone who can't spell
"steak" can have a $100.00 in the first place.

Fuck off nOOB.

stocktrader23 05-14-2004 01:01 PM

Prices are a bit high. I think I'll pass.

No shit, sirloin is the poor mans steak. :1orglaugh

C_U_Next_Tuesday 05-14-2004 01:08 PM

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm meat! I prefer wild game (deer and elk) to beef.. but its not that available.. got to kiil it oneself.:thumbsup

beemk 05-14-2004 01:08 PM

that was the first one i saw on the site under "specials" i just looked at the rest of them and they are all overpriced.

That's why sirloin is always wrapped with bacon or some other
flavor ingredient is added to the recipe like teriyaki or something
like that. Sirloin has no flavor what-so-ever.

Filet, T-bone, tenderloin, or new york strip carry the best flavors.

gregtx 05-14-2004 01:10 PM

I've personally never been impressed by "Omaha Steaks", got some as a gift and just didn't really do it for me.. I admit they have a great marketing deparment.. kinda like "Bose"...

but normally you would never freeze a good steak..

prime beef is graded and aged... and yes corn fed is normally much better than Texas field ranged beef anyday..

but hey every cow is different my gift box may have had cows with bad genes!!!

you're crazy. it has flavor just like the rest of them. and rib eye has the best flavor, over filet, tbone, tenderloin, and ny strip.

not to mention tbone and ny strip are the same thing with the only difference being the bone.

beemk 05-14-2004 01:14 PM

do they freeze these steaks before they send them. how do they stay cold do they use dry ice or something?

So true.

If you know what your doing with meat you use a nitrogen sealer
to package the meat. Freezing is for trailer trash.

smack 05-14-2004 01:18 PM

i don't even know what to say. except that omaha steaks is gonna be hearing from me alot.

I don't like meat...can't stomach it...my father used t oforce feed me steak and now I can't go near it!

Dawgy 05-14-2004 01:48 PM

i used to work in a meat department when i was a teenager. i've had every kind of steak imaginable, some taste better than other and some are more tender. but top sirloin steak does have flavor. you obviously dont know what you're talking about. teriyaki is used as a tenderizer and if you've seen the dimensions of a sirloin you would know that its not common to wrap bacon around it. the fillet is actually more commonly cooked with bacon wrapped around it because its so lean that its needs more flavor.

SomeCreep 05-14-2004 02:30 PM

I love prime rib :glugglug
