Did they show those iraqi prisoner pictures in the US?
 

Was just watching the Dutch news and they showed some American kids err i mean soldiers who took quite disturbing pics of prisoners in iraq. Naked, blindfolded, humiliated, letting them stand on crates with wires attached to them and telling them if they fall they would be electrocuted etc.

They said here that only cbs had these pics but the the Bush administration basically forbid the tv channels to show these pics. Now im wondering, is this true?

They showed them on 60 Minutes last night.

Probably, or the live war streams will be stopped. And none wants that.

Horrible pics. In army some people exceed all possible limits. There's an investigation now in Iraq regarding this issue that US army performs. From what I saw on tv already a woman general and more than ten soldiers are facing serious jailtime. It's both against human rights and unfair for the rest soldiers,the majority, which are not related with any action close to that, but gives wrong impression to the rest of the world. I think 20 years in prison would do them good.

A far as taking part in those activities, I certainly would not, I was in the first gulf war and had to guard Iraqi prisoners, they were just a bunch of scared poor guys who wanted anything but to fight and die for saddam, they surely did not make us feel like abusing them, we only felt pity toward them :2 cents:

These soldiers made their whole country look bad and the arab world even more pissed off.. some of their fellow soldiers might even die because of it if this is the straw that breaks the camels back for some undecided Iraqis to finally decide to join the armed resistance because of anger at the treatment of their countrymen.

apparently there were only 5 or so guards for 900 prisoners and the u.s. army did not educate them re: the geneva convention.

nonetheless, they went on a major power trip and hopefully prosecuted to the fullest extent of military law

I'm concerned equally for all people and I try not to discriminate them over any characteristic to the degree this is possible. I've been asked in the past here if the life of an american worths more than the life of a poor iraqi or a guy from another 3rd world country. For you as American probably worths more, for me they worth the same. Every life is unique and counts. America is probably one of the very few countries that can start a war to protect/liberate/rescue not thousands, just few american citizens. If you further think of this it's based on the same principle with what I stated.

The thread is about iraqi prisoners and not about Africa or Kurds. If you think this thread shouldn't exist please state it, I believe the opposite. As I said first it's sad cause these events can give bad impression for the general picture of the US army. I stated it's unfair.

The female general of that prison got in deep trouble over it. All the soldiers are being court marshalled.

Its dispicable, discusting, and a violation of the geneva convention, however out of 2 million people in the military your bound to have a few hundred bad apples, so its always going to happen. You can find pics like that from armies all over the world.
