quiet, I bought salmon yesterday...

Going to make it here shortly. What's a good way to make it? I figure it's probably good on the grill, no?

I'm clueless, help!

Why 02-22-2004 02:21 PM

you could...

braise it.
boil it.
fry it.
smoke it.
bake it.
grill it.

all kinds of possibilities.

AdultNex 02-22-2004 02:21 PM

... Or a be a man, and eat it raw (sashimi style).

Why 02-22-2004 02:22 PM

oops, forgot to mention, i would braise it with some good spices, scrumptious.

BlackHole 02-22-2004 02:23 PM

Diced raw and placed in small dishes of pure lime and lemon juices.

The acidity in the juices will cook the salmon as it sits.

Ross 02-22-2004 02:24 PM

I hate all fish. Dunno how you can eat it...

Morgan 02-22-2004 02:25 PM

with honey/dijon, broiled

Fletch XXX 02-22-2004 02:27 PM

salmon tacos!

get rid of skin.
douse in lemon, black pepper, butter, pico de gallo, garlic salt
throw onto preheated pan, sear (sp) it.

cook to liking flipping like steaks.

scramble.

heat tortillas.

chop up cilantro, and inions.

hot sauce.

fold.

and swallow.

mmmm

had em yesterday

Spunky 02-22-2004 02:27 PM

Wrap it in foil.put lemon slices and spices in middle and cook at 350 for about 40 minutes :thumbsup

m00d 02-22-2004 02:29 PM

cover it in brown sugar and smoke it

Brad Xtremepay 02-22-2004 02:29 PM

Salmon on wood planks.
Many recipees for it... takes salmon to a whole new level

Sly_RJ 02-22-2004 02:31 PM

Shit, looks like I'll have to make a store run. What's a somewhat quick way to make it? We're getting a little hungry here. By the way, it's salmon steak. Don't know if that makes any difference?

SomeCreep 02-22-2004 02:31 PM

yesterday, i ate prime rib. Deeeelicious :glugglug

beemk 02-22-2004 02:32 PM

its good to just cover it in BBQ sauce and grill it. add more to the salmon throughout cooking. let it marinate if possible. grill until outside is crispy but not totally burned. mmmm im getting hungry.

Holly 02-22-2004 02:32 PM

Sly honey, he just orders it. He doesn't cook it. :winkwink:

candyflip 02-22-2004 02:33 PM

I like mine poached with a nice dill sauce.

beemk 02-22-2004 02:33 PM

next time i would get salmon fillet. steaks have bones. if you like it for the thickness theres a special way you can cut a salmon fillet chunk to fold it and make it the same size as a steak.

Yes massa. Just bought a new one last week actually. No cedar though. You know, I should have asked this before I went to the store... what an idiot.

As a matter of fact, I do. Even thought it makes me want to vomit. :throwup

Just cook them on the grill. Make sure you brush butter or oil on each side right before you put them on, so they won't stick. Put them in a pan or something firm ahead of time and season them with whatever you want. If they're an inch or so thick, it will take about 5-6 mins on each side.

What kind of Salmon did you buy?

"Atlantic" farm raised Salmon it the only kind that's available year round.

Don't buy "farm" raised salmon... that shit isn't good for you.

XSV 02-22-2004 02:59 PM

One of the easiest ways to cook it, especially your first time, is to wrap it inside aluminum foil and cook on a grill over medium heat... usually about 20 minutes is fine, depends on the thickness. Before you seal up the foil add whatever seasoning/marinade you prefer. A mix of white wine, butter, slices of garlic and lemon juice/slices across the top work well for this method. Steam cooks it and keeps it moist. A good teriyaki sauce and pineapple chunks works well with this method also.

Enjoy.

Try Steelhead next. :thumbsup

Quick and easy.

Season with salt and cayenne pepper, a little garlic and onion, if you have it.

A few drops of lemon juice, if you have it.

Put butter in a frying pan.

Saute on both sides.

Eat.

If you don't have butter, you could use olive oil, but it's not the same.

If you don't have a frying pan, bake it.

Well, if he lived in the Pacific Northwest, he wouldn't have to eat Atlantic salmon ever again. :)

One of the nicest perks about living up this way is steelhead and wild coho and copper river salmon.

XSV 02-22-2004 03:09 PM

How the hell did that just happen?
