Blade Runner, good movie?

What do you guys thing? Was blade runner a good movie?

Madball 02-15-2004 10:15 AM

One of the best movies ever in my book. I love the final 5 minutes... the fight in that huge 1900s style house, Roy's death scene must be one of the best in the entire history of film. Deckard coming home & grabbing Rachel to flee... I love it.

dunefield 02-15-2004 10:16 AM

Awesome film... :thumbsup

dicknixon 02-15-2004 10:44 AM

Blade Runner kicks ass. . . but read the book, the ending is cooler in the book.

Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep - Phillip Dick

Rick Latona 02-15-2004 10:44 AM

It was a classic for sure.

Great movie. Don't do a google search on it, it may spoil the "twist"

Steve 02-15-2004 11:42 AM

outstanding

the look and feel of that movie has been ripped off numerous times

MrIzzz 02-15-2004 11:52 AM

michel 02-15-2004 11:53 AM

Yes

Validus 02-15-2004 12:14 PM

Is there a digital re-mastered DVD available?

Elli 02-15-2004 12:19 PM

moste excellent. If you like it, read "Neuromancer" by William Gibson. If you like to read, that is.

Bansheelinks 02-15-2004 12:53 PM

One of the best sci-fi movies ever made.......an incredible journey!

Leaves films like "Star Wars" way way back in the dust as those movies are more for mere entertainment and hardly intellectual:

Blade Runner has some real intellectual teeth to it.......plus its entertaining and visually stunning.......far more representative of what the future may look and feel like than almost any sci-fi movie going..........

Rent it or watch it or buy it!

:thumbsup

Cool movie. The classic of cuberpunk. Rutger Hauer was awesome in that final scene. But I did not liked the "directors cut" which seems to be on DVDs everywhere. Original was better with me.

BTW, the book is completelly different. Other ideas, other accentes. Movie is much better.

eroswebmaster 02-15-2004 01:08 PM

No do not watch it....don't watch The Godfather, Godfather 2, Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter, Scarface any of these movies...just all hype...nothing to see.

Validus 02-15-2004 01:09 PM

A lot of feedback. I wonder why there was never a remake or sequel, or was there?

Because it was so good that it didn't need a remake. Duh. :)

My list of Blade Runner's redeeming qualities:
1. For a cheesy Sci-Fi flick from 1981, the futuristic city looked pretty cool.
2. It has Harrison Ford (I don't care what you say, Harrison Ford is COOL)
3. There were at least 2 instances of the Atari logo in big neon lights.
4. Topless Replicant Chick With A Snake
5. Midgets Who Vandalize Police Cars

Killah 02-15-2004 03:53 PM

I bought the original remastered DVD a few weeks ago, price was $ 65 (!!!). Bladerunner is legendary.

Ian 02-15-2004 04:12 PM

My favourite Sci-fi movie of all time.:)

Rorschach 02-15-2004 04:14 PM

I'll just pointlessly add my :2 cents: that Bladerunner is incredible, awesome, visionary, what people mean when they talk about a "seminal" film.

Never huge is an understatement, it totally bombed at the box office.

Madball 02-15-2004 04:18 PM

As that Edward James Olmos character goes "Pity she will not live... but then, who does?" that's another classic point in this movie... after he throws Deckard back his gun and heads back to his spinner craft.

Great flick! One of the original Sci-fi techno thrillers with a great plot and a great group of actors. I watched it when it originally came out and it kicked major ass! Watch Tron as well, another great sci fi flick. :thumbsup

loco12 02-15-2004 04:33 PM

Fucking top movie. The directors cut gets rid of the horrible Harrison Ford voiceover and shows the movie as it should have been.

By the way Harrison Ford has stated he will never talk about the movie and will not do interviews about it or anything. Don't know what upset him.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'll just 2nd these sentiments and add my :2 cents:

I don't want to ruin the ending so stop reading here

Still don't know if Harrison Ford's character was a replicant or not.

It sure is Killah..........even though I enjoyed the first Star Wars trilogy, especially the first two as entertainment, Bladerunner just totally blows them away as far as movie-making, sci-fi story-telling goes.........not even close.......kinda like comparing a Happy Meal to a nice Sirloin Steak.

My advice to anyone who loves sci-fi? Watch movies like Bladerunner if you want to really be entertained and be blown away & almost convinced you are entering the world of the future.

valley hina 02-15-2004 06:28 PM

yeah thta movie is dope

Madball 02-15-2004 06:29 PM

An entire generation of Sci-Fi movies in the 80s and 90s would be unthinkable without Bladerunner paving the ground.

And yes, Deckard is a replicant. He won't live and neither will Rachel. That's why they flee.

One of my all-time favourites, I must have read it 20 times now :)

Bansheelinks 02-15-2004 06:39 PM

Ridley Scott rocks..............he also did "Alien" which was another incredible movie, not even to mention, although not scif-i, the awesome "Gladiator".

The guy can kick-ass direct.

haha... i will admit that sometimes the "big ones" don't resonate as much today as they would have 20 years ago so it's almost a fair question.. but blade runner? c'mon sci fi classic.

SoftGalleries 02-15-2004 06:41 PM

that film is on my download list for weeks and still not coming... "more sources needed"
