Is Webair the right choice??

I am about to change hosting company. After reading a lot on this board I had the impression that Webair had a good reputation and reasonable prices.

After some unsuccessful attempts to get in business with them, I am not so sure if they are the right choice any more.

- It's very hard to reach them by phone, (which always used to be a warning singn for me) ... I phoned them at 10 am their local time. At my third attempt I manage to reach a human being telling me he is just the tech guy and the sales staff is not in yet -- at 10 in the morning??

- Their first quotation is not what I asked for. Their second quotation takes several days plus a reminder. Now I have been waiting for a contract to sign since Saturday.

What do you believe? Should I be alerted and look for a different company?

integrated 02-09-2004 11:52 PM

they have a few board whores around

they will come in and ease your mind in a minute

iwantchixx 02-09-2004 11:53 PM

Listen, give my man Sly a jingle. ICQ 147479144 or [email protected] . Let sly go over what you need and he'll hammer out a quote for you. I have NEVER had problem with phat. Very rarely do issues arise, like once a year, and it's minimal, like email timed out, badabing, icq'ed sly, prob fixed in 30 mins.

FreeHugeMovies 02-09-2004 11:56 PM

Of course webair is solid!

TurboAngel 02-09-2004 11:57 PM

Webair is the way to go, great people.

:thumbsup

looky_lou 02-09-2004 11:58 PM

Yes they are the right choice.

Mike is very responsive via ICQ at just about any hour. He will get you set up and service you after the set up. #20458616

I am very suprised that you have had trouble contacting them by phone. They usually have someone available 24/7.

Strife 02-09-2004 11:59 PM

You can't go wrong by going with webair. :thumbsup

stocktrader23 02-10-2004 12:01 AM

I thought about getting a dedicated with webair but my partners virtual with them has been nothing but a pain in the ass. Down / Slow / or just plain screwed up more than I'd like to see. Maybe it's just that box but didn't give me any faith in them as a whole.

A 747 with 400 + passengers, how many of them have got something that went wrong with their flying experience. Hard to please everyone all the time. But your comment is noted.:)

Highly reccomend webair if you are looking for a dedicated server.
Virtual accounts on the other hand are shaky at best.
They have nice support and response times.

Sounds to me like you have answered your own question. If you are having this much trouble getting set up with them...What's their support like?

Veterans Day 02-10-2004 08:20 AM

ISPRIME.com is the real chocie 24-7-365 phone or ICQ. Bottom line. Why doesnt Isprime spam the boards? DONT HAVE TO

Lykos 02-10-2004 08:25 AM

Definitly right choice:thumbsup

Thanky you very much, but I already had their number. Their phone system sucks and was one of the reasons for my original posting.

Mike is a good guy , I moved my stuff to Webair a few months back and have nothing but good things to say. During the move the tech was on the phone and icq with me for 5 hours till we got the move in. Mafde sure all the scripts were working and such.

Support is amazing. I go into their site admin hit live button and get a live guy within 10 secs. Matters are resolved fast. I blew out a HD on a box and before I even told them they were aware and swapping the HD before i even called. I am happy as hell.

Plus Mike is a very nice guy and will go all out for his customers.

Sounds good. Maybe they are a bit "too" successful & their sales dept. is very busy.

Yes, I would be...But what does that have to do with jennycards personal experiences? My comments were based strictly on what they said has already happened to them.

Did you see me even mention ISPrime in this thread?

No.

webair 02-10-2004 09:27 AM

Ross 02-10-2004 09:27 AM

You'd be crazy not to go with webair.

Two of the best hosting companies around:
ISPrime
Webair

Basic_man 02-10-2004 09:28 AM

I say : give Vibehosting.com a try! They worth it! :thumbsup

:2 cents:

AaronM 02-10-2004 09:32 AM

I say: This thread was not an open invitation for spam but more a chance for people to share their experiences with Webair. Those of you who are spamming other hosts in this thread are assholes. :2 cents:

bigdog 02-10-2004 09:34 AM

If all you going to do is have tgp galleries on the server, i would get a box over at webair because they are cheaper. If you are going to need support once in a while i would go with isprime

It's like night and day since I switched from Candid

Slinx 02-10-2004 09:42 AM

Hey Jennycards,
I'm a customer of webair, oxeo and isprime.

You should have my mail address.
If you are interested about my opinion, send me an e-mail.

jennycards 02-10-2004 09:45 AM

I was just contacted by Michael ... seems he was a bity busy last week but I am confident now to make the move soon.

wdsguy 02-10-2004 10:40 AM

webair is freakin awesome :thumbsup

Jer 02-10-2004 10:41 AM

I'm very happy with webair. Started with a virtual account in April 2002 and one year later changed it to dedicated and got a virtual account for a company I do work for. :thumbsup

Hooper 02-10-2004 10:55 AM

good choice jenny.

we have 10 or 15 servers at webair and they have been extremely stable and fast.

:thumbsup

After only 3 weeks on a managed dedicated with them I tell you: You should be alerted.
Their techs are very nice, but apparently totally overworked. Getting someone on ICQ to promise something will be fixed immediately takes only a minute. Getting something to work takes usually 5 promises and one week.
To me it looks like they had more good PR lately than they can handle.

dont compare some shit virtual 20$ account to real service.

Ive been with webair for 3+ years, and have used MULTIPLE hosts during that time for side projects.

I have KILLED all accou8nts except webair now.

top of the line host.

fr those yapping about "support" ala bigdog.... webairs live support has helped me out in less than 5 minutes before, so I dont know what you are hinting to about lack of support.

their servers are NOT slow and uptime is what a host should be about.

anyhow, i dont really care what host you people use, hell i hope all of your sites are down so mine stay up.

but dont talk shit about webair, they have not slow servers, and are very helpful, and HAVE been for over 3 years with me.

please dont recommend shit companies in a thread about a good company.
