scientists are hoping to clone mammoths
Russian and Japanese scientists are hoping to clone mammoths
The scientists are planning to use mammoth eggs in the cloning process. |

YOU REALLY WANT TO CLONE THIS ONE??
|
But isn't the FIRST Rosie O'donnel already having career problems?
|
I wanna clone my girlfriend and fix her DNA so that she likes anal sex.
|
Should not disturb the past. They are extinct for a reason. But human nature seems to be to fuck with things they shouldn't.
So I say go for it. I'll pay admission to see a prehistoric park in Siberia. :thumbsup |

Just wondering where you draw the line on cloning or if you're just purely against it |
There is a good chance of excessive hunting on Mammoths by humans being a part of their extinction, so I don't see anything wrong with bringing them back. Besides, it isn't that long since they wandered the earth.
The Dodos should definitely be brought back. They were very unique creatures, and went extinct solely because of humans. <img src=http://www.nhm.ac.uk/museum/tring/images/highlights/dodo.jpg> |
which animals should be brought back also?

Natural selection has its fine lines. I suppose humans did fuck up a lot of species. I believe if we killed them off due to hunting or polution... Actually that being said their prey could run rampant eating MORE than normal killing off a different species. Never thought of it that way. We could indirectly be killing millions of creatures daily. I say get a genetic sample of as many species as possible male and female (several different ones so we dont inbreed retarded hippos) and store them. I think cloning is bad for example of random animals from 1m-100k years ago. But then what do I know. |
wasnt there a movie made about bringing back prehistoric creatures? if memory serves me correctly it didnt turn out how they expected it:1orglaugh

<img src=http://www.aristotle.net/~swarmack/hodgraph/bigbird1.GIF> The Bluebuck (Extinct 1799) <img src=http://home.conceptsfa.nl/~pmaas/blueantelope-cedrichunter.jpg> The Quagga (Exitinct 1883) <img src=http://www.telephone.demon.co.uk/images/quagga.jpg> That's just a few. If you have some time, research extinct animals in Google and name the species that you would like to revive the most. Would be fun. :) |

The Dodo was perfectly adapted to its natural environment, by the way. It had no enemies until some idiots came along and slaughtered them all. |

I think it would be fantastic to bring back one mammoth at least and to observe it scientifically.. It wouldn't be overly difficult to do, either.

Cin... you might want to re-read writings on archaeolgy a little closer. Mammoth hunting is a basic fairy tale unless they were found wounded or ill. ;-)
Yes. some were hunted but not very many. This is from ancient garbage dump investigations from quite a few places in the World. :Graucho |

Yeah that, but it was on TV thing is fabulous eh? So are-were Martians. ;-)

Mammoths are big hairy fuckers with huge tusks. I wouldnt want one of those guys chasing after me when Im wandering through the woods.
Though I could profit off of selling "Mammoth bells" and "Mammoth Spray" |

Mammoths were hunted
Mainly by herding them to where they'd fall off a cliff or into a dead end so that they could then be clubbed to death. Good Grief didn't you read Jean Auel ? :) |
The dinos are next?
Now, that would be exciting. :thumbsup |
The Dodo might not be pretty, but I bet it'd feed a small town pretty good.

They found what they believe are LEGS. IF they're going to clone, they're going to use ELEPHANT EGGS in the process. |
