Fun trying to get a legitimate refund with CCBILL as a customer

While I could just as easily hand it to corvett because he appears to have a brain and basic cognitive ability, I think I'd like to see this situation through and see what exactly is going on.

I signed up to a site for a 90 day recurring billing membership.

I went to cancel the membership before the rebill date and the CCBill administrative system would not display the correct subscription number when I entered my VISA number.

So, I open a trouble ticket, hoping to get my subscription number so I could cancel the membership myself in time (3 days before rebill date, and this is confirmed by the webmaster)

In email #1 CCBill support told me my credit card and membership had been removed from active billing, and will not be billed again.

So naturally I get rebilled 5 days later.

So I email and say what the hell is going on, you just said the charge wont occur again.

Email #2, response says call CCBill support at 1-800 yaddah yaddah

I call 1-800-ccbill-yaddahyaddah. Support rep finds my membership and I tell her what happened. She finds the subscription and verifies my card was rebilled. She says email me the correspondance as an attachement and she will "look after it".

I email the messages to [email protected] as an attachement;

Email #3 in response to this says Call 1-800 yaddah yaddah

I email it again

Email #4 says Call 1-800 yaddah yaddah

In email #5 I break down and say just send this to the moron I spoke with on the phone.

Email #6 from moron says your card hasn't been charged since March 31st, 2003.

And it still isn't resolved.

I'd do a chargeback without hesitation if this wasn't so damn entertaining. :1orglaugh

Damnit! Thought you'd be off for the night.

Ok ok, just one more email... I just wanna see, as an expirement how many emails it will take to get a refund with a legitimate claim.

If it gets to the point of no return I'll send to you.

I honestly suspect this is the result of some kind of bug in 90 day recurring subscriptions. :glugglug

This is fun.

I just couldn't imagine something like this happening in a post 1% CCBill world.

email #7:

"Dear Customer,
Why could you not cancel this before rebill? Who assured you it would not be?"

Not pointing fingers at anyone, but this makes you wonder how many billing companies have in the past or currently continue billing customers but the rebills don't get credited to the webmaster's account.

Sounds like a profitable business model to me.

I'd hate to get crucified and put out of business over chargebacks of this nature. I'm sure this isn't the norm but these ratios are getting very very tight and everything counts.
