Italian food in montreal?
 

Ok I nead some inspiration for dinner this sunday,

I want the best italian food in Montreal???

I think Net Rodent has an online restaurant guide for Montreal. I am sure he knows a good one....maybe we can even do reviews for him !

If you want to go hit an Italian restaurant this Sunday.
I would rather not hit anyone of the ones on St Laurent since I am always there. Something different. Maybe something in Little Italy

we did , Japanese, steak(american) so far,

I'd say my favorite Italian restaurant at the moment is Da Emma in the old city. Casa Napoli in little Italy is good too, but you've probably already been there.

There's another restaurant in little Italy that I liked but I can't recall its name. Its about a block up St. Laurent from Casa Napoli and half the seating area is an indoor grape arbor. Its a bit on the casual side though (atleast at lunch).

There's also the little place about 2 blocks east of St. Laurent in little Italy where the mafia used to hold court. I wish I could recall the street and/or name of the place.

If you want to try something other than Italian, I'd suggest the Green Lime near the corner of Ontario and Pie IX. That's not exactly the neighborhood where I'd expect to find great food, but its definitely worth the trip if you like innovative cuisine.

Most, if not all the best Italian restaurants in Little Italy is located on St-Laurent Street:)

I'm afraid of venturing into Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood. Too many shady characters there.:(

Yeah if we go out SUnday and celebrate the La Presse article , next week we can celebrate a HUGE article coming out on me in Maximum Magazine !

I was too the first time we went there, but the place came highly recommended by several foodies.

Cool I'm might check it out one early evening. I heard that all the businesses in this area are controled by one motorcycle gang (which I'll shall not name here), and I'd hate to get arrested for being in a place frequented by gansters if you know what I mean.:)

St-Denis is good for french cuisine.

I say we take Net Rodents advice. He looks like he enjoys eating as much as Jason and I .

I don't mind going with Net Rodents idea of venturing into Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Honeslty I think where I live on St. Denis Masoneuvve could be thought of much more dangerous.

We are going for the food anyway ...... If we wanted to be seen we would go to Primadonna on St-Laurent ! But some police action may be cool for entertainment !

I've always been a fan of the restaurants at the old port, beautiful location and usually very good.

If you are planning on staying on the island:

Tre Marie (authentic 'casalinga' style)
If you like fancy (& pricey) I recommend Bice on Sherbrooke east of Guy - food is delicious.
If you want to take a drive - I heard Alegria up North (in St-Sauveur I think) is absolutely amazing & not too expensive.

Now I'm hungry too :-(

off-topic, but there was a restaurant Queue de Cheval that had very fine steaks when I lived there. I think it was on victoria.

Forget about down town, come to the west island we have great restaurants out here, and it's closer for me to join you...;)

There's a half-Swiss half-Italian place on Stanley between de maisonneuve and sherbrooke that is pretty good.

If you're going to eat in the east this sunday and it cost $20 or less per person call me at 299.2589
It can cost up to $30 if it is in Downtown, and up to $40 if it is in Old Montreal.

I saw some pictures on Le Journal de Montreal earlier this week of kids being escorted by police officers but I didn't read the article.
