How easy to get over 1% CBR

This is from one CCbill account from one of my pay sites @ $10 bucks a pop.

This year.

2,651 Sales
7 Refunds
53 Returned Checks
4 Chargebacks

=.015 Charge Back Ratio = Account closed, Funds withheld.

That's it and it's not negotiable.

sid 08-16-2003 04:03 AM

??

How do you get that to being 1% ??

That was my point..the math does not work, but tech people are teling me that the calulations they use are very complex and use different variables, BUT they are not sure of what they are..I need to talk to accounting. They will not be in untill Moday. I got the mail Friday at 4:49PM. Anyone ever see the movie Office Space?
The "Bobs" advise to fire someone late on friday so they have time to simmer down and not do a postal!

Oh shit...

I thought you were talking about a HYPOTHETICAL situation...

Are you saying that CCBILL has terminated your account with those numbers?

If that's the case then this really deserves another thread with their name in it......

Something like:

"CCBills math puts me over 1% & Terminates my account!"

We all have to be on the lookout for each other & how all this 1% chargeback rule gets executed.

Then again... it's very possible that they terminated your account for some other reason and you're not giving all the information here :)

sid 08-16-2003 04:28 AM

If ccbill is closing your account because of 4 CB's when u have done 2,651 Sales, they are insane...

But if you made 2.6 sales and had 4 charge backs I could understand it....

very complex calulations my ass....

goBigtime 08-16-2003 04:31 AM

If its true, start a new thread topic - this one is boring and doesn't accurately represent what has happend.

rowan 08-16-2003 04:32 AM

Did you do anything to suddenly stop new sales, like switch billers?

Filter 08-16-2003 04:33 AM

Since you haven't contacted them yet I think it's pretty strong to say it's "non negotiable" :2 cents:

How do they measure chargebacks?

Monthly?

So basically you are trapped into using a processor once you start in order to protect your rebills? Ie.. high previous volume, low/no current volume = terminated?

VISA & MC need to get sued in a big class action. :feels-hot

Tipsy 08-16-2003 04:49 AM

Be interesting to hear the full story behind this.

rowan 08-16-2003 04:50 AM

From memory the chargebacks are counted over a 3 month period. I don't recall whether they stagger the stats to match up the chargebacks with the sales, or chargebacks are counted as the month they are initiated, rather than the month of the sale.

Thanks for the concern, and I have tried to contact them, but sales and accounting are not around on weekends. These are stats right from my admin 5. The non-negotiable comment came from one of the 3 techs I spoke to this morning. I rather not raise hell at this point for a still have several profiable accounts with them. "Don't shoot the Captain, for the troops may rebel".

for the record, bvf, I doubt that a high chargeback rate is the case here...

I have an idea of what this is about, but I would like to see the email first to confirm it

DutchTeenCash 08-16-2003 08:42 AM

the % is monthly just got off icq with corvett he said 2 cb we have on 750+ sales the last months is nuffin to worry about, something else must be wrong for sure.

DeadFidel 08-16-2003 08:54 AM

To Mark, (CCbill) just spoke with Justin in tech. (very helpfull) Clearly someone misread the Zero, 0.01 vs 0.1 Waitng for a call back to confirm.

corvette 08-16-2003 09:22 AM

Ok, im at the office now and had just spoken to Justin

directfiesta 08-16-2003 09:32 AM

By the way, mad respect for you CCBill folks working on weekends and responding to that dude. :)

One thing too.. isn't there supposed to be a 100 CB threshold or something where if you don't meet it monthly, then the 1% CB requirement doesn't apply? Or am I just dreaming stuff up?

JamesK 08-16-2003 11:54 AM

that site is so fucking confusing :helpme

corvette 08-16-2003 12:22 PM

It is ridiculous to think that I would be at liberty to discuss or reveal any of our client information to anybody, let alone on a public message board

There is a 100 chargeback minimum for sponsored merchants, as mentioned here
