Two competitive alpha males meet in a narrow passage and one loudly states "I never stand aside for a lesser man!" The other steps to the side and says- "I always do."

Good, meaty insults that lay the other one to waste have to have that "zinger" quality in them. Mere words won't do it. It requires timing, wit and (most importantly!) delivery. A poor insult leads to a fight, a good one ends it.
