Has anyone ever had Jury Duty ??
 

On Monday, I have to drive 2 hours to do some jury duty. I never had to do it before. It says that i'm a petit juror in my paperwork, that I'll be on call for the month, but they want me there on Monday, perhaps for screening.

If anyone on this board is gonna be having a jury trial in Marquette, Michigan in the next 30 days, let me know, I might be able to get you off the hook :) ha ha ha.

I think in some states it's one day only unless you get picked.

heh that statement will make any conviction by any jury you are ever on be overturned.

Tell them you SELL PORN FOR A LIVING and you won't get picked.

I get out of jury duty every time.... but I'm not sharing my secret. :)

Yep, it says I'll be on call for one month OR one trial which are 3 to 5 days in duration. I guess that if they're gonna pay me $40 per day and 36 cents per mile (110 miles) to drive there, that wouldn't be too bad.


Uh oh, I never realized that, he he he. Well, I clearly said anyone from this board, so if nobody from this board is being charged, it'll be fair down the middle, ha ha ha. Actually, no matter who it is, even if it'd be Boneprone sitting there, I'd have to be fair :)


Ha ha ha, that might be a good idea. I put web master/designer on the initial paperwork that they sent me. If they ask me more about it, I guess that I'll just tell them.

all you gotta do is check that box on the form that asks for an exemption... explain that you're a sole proprietor and that a lengthy trial would cause you financial hardship.

if you have a day job, ask your boss for a letter stating that you are not reimbursed for jury duty... and then check the box and explain financial hardship.

Unless they're totally strapped for jurors, they'll exempt you.
