That would have been considered a nice design about 3 years ago.

When will you guys realize that by selling your services for next to nothing it hurts us all? Especially when you have to rip another designer to keep your prices so cheap.

The quality of the design isn't that bad. About the same quality I was putting out before hiring a design staff... That was 2 years ago though!

I doubt the site will convert that well, simply because it does look like so many other sites out there. nothing really unique to it.


As for AMP's post about times getting tough... The design biz is getting a lot tougher lately with all of these guys offering up designs at 25% the rate of a decent design. After summer times will get better. Companies are trying to stockpile their site portfolios before InterNext with the least amount of $$ as possible. After Internext, when people start promoting the sites, they will run to the proven design companies for sites that actually convert:-)

Tough times now means being booked for 2-3 weeks rather than 3 months.. It happened last year this time.. It will pick up:-)

You get what you pay for. The larger companies know this. And unless you are able to dictate every aspect of a design.. a cheap designer isn't worth it in the long run.

When I receive quote request, and I send back my price for the kind of job asked (That I consider fair for both me and the client), I always hear WOW too expensive.... !!!! The guys nos expect to get a full tour, + join + banners for 500 $. and he ask, "Do you provide the members area? " :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

usually I base myself at about 40 to 45 $ / hour for big jobs, but when I look at the price they are willing to pay, it would give 15$/hour, I better flip hamburgers at that price ;)

There are too many price cutters. I have seen guys out there that are very good, but man they are way too cheap, it kills our business.... if it continue, will be 1000, of starving designers. The pie is not bigger that the old days, but they are more people around it...
