Deeply disappointed - Fuck Metallica

http://metallica.com/index.asp?item=1109

chodadog 05-28-2003 10:11 PM

Why?

X37375787 05-28-2003 10:15 PM

I can't hear Kirk, I can't hear the bass, all I hear is drums and James.

Man... bring the Justice back.

Sly_RJ 05-28-2003 10:16 PM

Why? Do you really have to ask?

Listen to that shit.

Hammet is capable of incredible solos. I can't even fucking hear any guitar, let alone a solo, on that whole song. It's all singing (weak, no screaming) and loud over-powering drums. Like Ulrich needs a bigger ego.

The rest of the CD better not be like that.

Did you watch Icon? They were smiling and laughing when Snoop slaughtered Sad But True. Pathetic.

Bounce y'all.

X37375787 05-28-2003 10:18 PM

no kidding :(

Fletch XXX 05-28-2003 10:18 PM

i do not understand.

is this a new generation weeping over metallica?

c'mon old schoolers, teach these kingergarteners.

metallica died with damage inc, sorry you got into them so late.

i was smoking some of my first hebrs before puberty listening to Master Of Puppets man, it died there. I KNOW OTHERS feel the same way.

hetfield in a song booth taking 'singing lessons? Learn a fucking Bob Seger tune, he and the rest turned lame, anyone from the old days knows this.

buahaha

lame.

he should have stuck with what he started, he let down old school fans, you guys can complain this go around

:winkwink:

Sly_RJ 05-28-2003 10:23 PM

No, I hear you Fletch. Shit man, you need to remember I'm 19. :winkwink:

The black album was my first introduction. Say what you will, it's still a great album. However, everything before that is in a complete world of its own. I get stiff every time I pop in Metal Militia and The Call of Ktula.

Steve 05-28-2003 10:23 PM

Metallica died with Cliff Burton - And Justice For All is so much weaker, and from there, Lar's pussy power mind meld with Hetfield really kicked in. It took a few years, but they went mad gay. I cannot even begin to fathom "Load".

They gave me some good years, but they passed into the fat Elvis in the white jumpsuit stage when that black album came out.

chodadog 05-28-2003 10:24 PM

I reckon it's alright. It will no doubt sound better on the CD than that. It's a pretty shitty quality video. It ain't no Master of Puppets, but was anyone really expecting it to be?

those bands sell - so Lars the Whore will copy them
just be thankful James can't pull off Michael Jackson dance moves, they'd fucking tour with Britney Spears

they jumped the shark when Beavis & Butthead goofed on them, called James the "Cowardly Lion" - you could almost hear the testosterone dry up

I remember you saying something about Black Sabbath being the most poorly executed music ever?

Just curious, those comments stick in my mind as you post a pic of Ozzy. Im a huge Sabbath fan, and remember you saying that.

Ozzy on the other hand.... Ozzy fuckin' owns. Best thing that ever happened to him was the exit from Sabbath.

That's true, Ozz ain't doing so good these days... but Ozzy never turned himself into a cheap whore like Metallica did. Ozzy is a fucking legend and his tunes will be played for decades to come, long after he's gone.

You forgot the pictures of Bob Daisley, Randy Rhoades and Zakk Wylde, the three main ingredients in Ozzy's musical success over the past 23 years. No disrespect to Ozzy, but you'll notice for the most part anything lacking one of the above three people more or less sucks with the exception of a few gems.

And whoever mentioned Metallica sucking after Cliff Burton left hit the nail on the head. Justice was a strong album, but any song by Metallica with the name "Burton" or "Mustaine" in the writing credits is miles beyond the rest. You can't even hear Newstead on Justice for fucks sake. Listening to St. Anger literally gave me a headache.

Metallica broke up after the black album. All thats left now is old men trying to earn money making music they think is popular. I dont even call them Metallica anymore. They're nothing more than sold out has beens.

Have you heard any pre 1980 Black Sabbath? 99.9% of all metal bands name the original Black Sabbath as one of their main influences. I can only assume you're stirring the pot with your comments, or the only Black Sabbath you've heard was recorded between 1982 and 1998.

hottoddy 05-28-2003 10:59 PM

While my personal favorites end with the MOP album, I still felt Metallica put out good stuff through the Black album.

This new song is disturbingly bad. At least with the load, re-load crap, we all knew Metallica was experimenting with pussy rock and cover songs. This is Metallica trying to be heavier than before, and it sounds bad.

Baritone necks, tuned down guitars, no solos, too much double bass drums, weak vocals, nu-metal slushy sounding mix ... no thanks.

that's all fine and well... but just because they influenced what we hear today doesn't automatically make Sabbath's tunes any damn better. It's ancient history. Bury it and move on into the present. There's tons of shit that was considered "good" back then... doesn't mean it's good anymore.

The only ancient music that's truly good enough to last forever came from the classical composers... Bach, Mozart (my personal fav), Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Tchaikovsky.... etc. Now that's music. Black Sabbath sounds like some stoner was scraping a chunk of broken rusty metal across his guitar strings after his first day back from music class.

There is a lot of music today that's very good. Well composed, and well executed. And there's a lot that isn't. The death metal crap is just that... complete crap. Any idiot with a couple bottles of Jack, a few buddies, some noise makers, and the ability to growl and scream incoherent angry biblical references for 60 minutes could put out the next death metal CD.

There's hardly anything in the present that can even come close to comparing to what Black Sabbath has done for music. My present is Black Sabbath, such is the wonder of audio recording. I can put in a CD and listen to what they did in the 60s and 70s and it _still_ stands up today.

I have a broad range of musical tastes but I find it hard to compare classical music (I'm more of a Holst and Frank Zappa kind of guy when it comes to that) to the likes of Black Sabbath. How in one message you can proclaim Ozzy is the king, yet in another say Black Sabbath sounds like "some stoner was scraping a chunk of broken rusty metal across his guitar strings after his first day back from music class" doesn't make sense to me. I listen to Ozzy and hear Black Sabbath. Why? Because every musican he's played with has been _heavily_ influenced by them. Talent wise all Ozzy does is sing and put on a show. Go listen to Laguna Sunrise or Orchid or Fluff or Symptom of the Universe or Spiral Architect... The list goes on. Then go listen to any Ozzy song and you will hear the Sabbath.

There is? I can think of maybe a handful of groups I would put in that category.
