An '03 Viper or landscape my front yard?
 

Pretty fucking sad. Just got the final quote for landscaping my front yard and it comes to just about the price of a new '03 viper (both are around $83k). Even sader is that I'll probably go for the landscaping even tho I really want the viper :(

Those who have been here tho will know that I can use the landscaping :)

Buy a rake and a shovel and spend a few weekends tilling the soil.

one will increase the value of your house, the other will lose 10k as soon as you drive it off the dealers yard. Although the viper is an investment in lifestyle of course :)

The front is pretty much empty right now. I'll have to snap some pics of the current makeshift walkway and of the landscape plan tomorrow.

There will be a lot of hardscape going in, a lot of retaining walls since the yard is so sloped. And also a LOT of planting. A number of decent sized trees (10-20 feet). It adds up fast. I think it will look great when it's done, just a lot of money to part with for moving dirt around and putting some stones down :)

nice crib. my advice? the house appreciates, the car doesn't. do the landscaping, reap the benefits, and buy a viper later :winkwink:


edit: i'd think it'd improve your land value a lot. might just increase your net worth more than a car, and it will only go up.

landscaping...your house needs it... empty yard with a nice house is like having a 20 bedroom mansion with a small front door

Buy viper, park it where you would have landscaped. That will increase value of your property.

In all seriousness, go for the landscaping, it really will increase the value of your house in the long term and make it long nice too (although it looks amazing in that pic already).

the landscaping is an investment because it will immediatly contribute to the value of your house...i always go for the money rather than the flash...in 5 years you can buy 20 of those things and not even feel it if you just chill for a while on that stuff

Do the landscaping, and if you want real performance, buy a shifterkart. For under $10k you can have way more performance than you can handle.

Better yet... fuck the landscaping... buy the shifterkart, and have a track built around the house

Go for the landscaping... you can't live in a Viper. There will be another fast red car you'll want in years to come and then you won't have to decide cause you'll be watching all the landscaping grow.

if you cant afford both and already have a car for transportationt he viper should be out of the question.
