Ever since these damn "rent a wheel" places opened up, you see so many pieces of shit driving around with fancy ass rims. It's sickening to see a beat up '70s Monte Carlo with big assed chariot wheels on it that are worth more than the fucking car itself. There's one that I see driving around that I swear I can see the brush strokes in the paint job.

Thats not so, been there done that. The "older" crowd like me lol just have different priorities. Oh don't let us get you wrong, we have our toys. I have my Harley, Speedbikd, etc, some of the "older" crowd has boats and other toys.

The only thing I am saying is that my kids (23 et al) have different priorities, Your main thing is to let laid, if that means a nice car, rims etc, so be it. When you have the wife, and the kids than your priorities will change also.

I never had the money to "bling" out anything when I was my kids age. I was a cheap-ass. However I did buy my first house at age 21 (which now is rented (yeah right) to one of my kids. Oh well, i am so behind times

know what's really damn dumb? seeing a full-size 70's impala station wagon going down the street on 13" rims that are 4" wider than the tires so the sidwalls have to be stretched 2" on each side.

I found something similar but they wanted to know the offset in millimeters. What the fuck are they talking about? Between 13 and 35. Fuck if I know.

That's a shame to do that to a Hummer. They're meant to have big off road tires, not big pimpin' rims and low profile tires.

Labret - the offset is the placement of the center of the wheel with respect to the tire (like the spokes and stuff - where it's centered widthways in the tire).

i'll try and find some pictures.


"backspacing" is the space between the lug holes or whatever and the _inside_ lip of the rim. you have to move this around to get it to fit on different vehicles.

it may be switchable, but that's not being a very good boyscout!

So basically the depth? The larger the mm offset the deeper the wheel?

offset is very similar, but i can't remember if that refers to the front side or backside of the wheel - it's been a while since i've messed with wheels.

one of my Car Crafts has a really good article on tires and wheels and stuff. i should find it and scan some stuff, that would explain everything.

My first set of rims were bbs. Nice chromed 18's. They kept saying how great the rims were, that they were the lightest rim on the market, the chrome would never fade, etc...

Until i hit a 1/2 in pot hole and totally destroyed the rim. Yes they might be light weight, but they are weak as shit. I'm on my 3rd pair of rims and just realized that 18 inch low profile wheels in NY do not hold up with all these fucking pot holes.
