The general conception is, Rims (or wheels) look better than tires

So they try to get very large rims and low profile tires to fill up the fender holes

Supposedly, a 20 inch wheel with a 2 inch sidewall tire looks better than a 17 inch wheel with a 5 inch sidewall tire

You can also have wider tires with less sidewall, for greater contact patch with the road, and better handling because you have less sidewall flex in the tire during hard cornering. But nobody here knows how to drive anyway so this is just an appearance issue and not about performance.

They look cheap under any car except a hotrod. So if you have a hotrod then its oke. Otherwise stay away from them.

do you think they would look ok on a '91 VW black cabriolet? :)

I guess we'll just have to wait for them to arrive and put them on.
