I think it would be of great use if they did.

Because it makes you look dumb or like a 14 year old ...

Not from me. I use an iMac with the small apple keyboard, so there isnt a hash tag symbol on it... :(

Sure, I can access it if I learn a key combo, but thats almost like work... :(

There are already regular tags..

not exactly correct, it's tagging, labeling & easy searching via social media sites.

Most people using hastags have no damn clue what they are doing or even why. A forum would be even worse.

So Twitter developed #hashtags?
Then Facebook started using them?
Why would a forum use them?

If you search twitter or FB does the search index all hashtags even those not on their site.

yeah, google rank on hashtags or at least, search results work from hashtags. Interesting, instagram raises a higher search rank than twitter or fb :2 cents:
